Guys, would you not date a girl because of bad teeth?

I'm very good looking and very nice. My teeth are discolored from antibiotics I took when I was younger. I rarely smile and am very depressed about this. The only solution is veneer which costs around $5000 which I don't have. Whitening procedures may help a bit but not much. I do go to a dentist twice a year and brush my teeth, it's not like they're rotten or anything. Has anyone tried crest strips? Back to the subject, no one is perfect. I'm just wondering how important perfect, white teeth are! And like I said, I

am very hot just not my teeth.

Guys, would you not date a girl because of bad teeth?
Well it's not a big problem if your trying really hard to whiten them like you are, it's only a problem when they don't care that their teeth look like baked beans.
Reply:As long as you don't have a bad breath.... its fine
Reply:yes because bad teeth are very ugly
Reply:I'm not a guy but good teeth are a must. You talk and kiss and and eat with a person and you see teeth quite a bit. Not everyone cares about teeth, even really hot guys will date a girl with gross teeth if she is still pretty, but the one thing is people jump to conclusions like you arent clean and never brush, if you like someone just explain to them why they are that way and they bug you and if the guy doesnt like it, let him walk.
Reply:as long as you have teeth..
Reply:Any real man would see beyond the teeth and know that he

could have his wife's teeth fixed...
Reply:It does make some difference. My gf has bad teeth and it's kind of embarrassing.
Reply:I'd have to see them to know, for sure. I don't think it would exclude you, though.
Reply:its mebbe easy for u to say..but all a gurl needs to make a guy fall for him is her smile..they go crazy over it...n thats what ur spoiling...its not that i am blaming u..but eventually..dont try to show ne guy ur HOT!! just show them u have a gr8 heart n u'll find the guy hu will love u despite ne physical feature of urs...
Reply:Your right, no one is perfect. A cute smile with pearly whites showing tends to be on my top 3 things i look for in a female.
Reply:Have you tried rinsing with hydrogen peroxide, right from the bottle. I use it daily, and it's cheap..........If you dont mind foaming at the mouth, briefly. :)
Reply:no because thats not a big problem for me and their is always more girl then bad teeth
Reply:so are you saying you 'would' date a girl with bad teeth??

that's so sweet!!!

i think most people think white teeth are important because it means a person takes good care of their mouth. most people don't think maybe a person has discolored teeth because of medication. they just think the person doesn't take care of their mouth.

i guess from now on i'll just have to make sure it's not from neglect. because NO ONE wants to date a guy that don't take care of his mouth.

i use crest plus whitening toothpaste. have you tried white light treatments. they sell the kits at walmart now. i have used it once and it worked for me.

i hope one day you will be happy with your smile. but don't get a big head when you do. keep being a sweety.
Reply:As you are very hot, I am sure you can have secret little meetings with guys but few would like to be seen with you as their girlfriend but as your main attraction is that you are hot and not classy, educated, interesting with a good personality, once they unload you will have served your purpose. At least you can get a good night's sleep, you won't have to put up with snoring or guys farting in bed.
Reply:I would work OT and save up for the veneer. Make that your top priority. I know it sucks to have to worry so much about the surface stuff but for most people bad teeth are a hard thing to get past.

If you have a decent job you can get a loan for the procedure. If you are too young to be working tell your parents thats all you want for Christmas. Or that you'll pay them back. Can you justget the front top ones done to start with?
Reply:theres an old saying that i personally go by:"Never judge a book by its cover"if they open it read it and explore it then theyll find the true meaning of the book........all though this nation is tied up in the front page it makes it diffacult to express the real side of us.........then i go back to how it was when there was no toothbrush or running water, cosmetics"did they care about LOOKS no its all fixed in are tiny minds looks are the frontier of are life so sad .........believe that there is someone that DOSENT JUDGE YOU BY THE COVER ............if they love you and they know the real then u got it made ......i guess im spending 5 g on my gf she has a lil prob but she wont tell me ,i notice it but like i said i explored the book ,the cover dosent matter!!!!
Reply:bad teeth are a major turn off for me.......they dont have to be perfect, but they need to look nice as possible.....

Why would you think cats don't need their teeth brushed?

Some people think treats clean the teeth. Do treats clean your teeth? I highly doubt it. Our vet says to brush their teeth and use the pet toothbrushes and pet toothpaste and it'll save on future vet bills with decayed cat teeth. We had a dog with bad teeth and nothing is worse than that rotten pet mouth licky kiss.

Why would you think cats don't need their teeth brushed?
At our clinic, I do anywhere from 4-8 dental cleanings on cats each week. That's just me! Our other two technicians probably do the same number! These cleanings need to be done under general anesthesia and probably half the time, we end up pulling one or more teeth. Though anesthesia nowadays is very safe, there is still an inherent risk in any anesthetic procedure. Extending time between professional dental cleanings is not only better for the cat's teeth, but her overall health (and the owner's pocket book!) :-)

When I discharge a kitty after a dental cleaning, the first thing I always recommend is brushing the teeth. Kitties tend to be less cooperative about this than dogs, but for many, it can be done. We recommend brushing 2-3 times a week. The only time I would suggest NOT brushing, would be in cases where the owner/pet relationship suffers because of it. If kitty runs under the bed every time you approach her, it is just not worth it.

Another option for cats who won't tolerate brushing is a new product called OraVet. It is a barrier sealant that helps prevent plaque from sticking to the teeth. It only needs to be applied weekly. See http://www.oravet.us.merial.com/ I use it on my own kitties.

There are also diets on the market designed specifically to prevent tartar build-up on kitty teeth. A few examples are Hill's Prescription t/d and Science Diet Oral Care, Purina DH and Royal Canin Dental DD. My own kitties eat t/d and love it.

Most hard food on the market does nothing to maintain dental health in a cat. It is a myth that hard food (except those listed above) is better for the teeth than soft food. Most hard food crumbles into tiny pieces as soon as kitty bites into it. The only part of the tooth being scrubbed is the very tip! Adding soft food to your cat's diet will add much needed moisture. Kitties simply do not drink enough to make up for the lack of water in their diets if they are only fed hard food. In addition to t/d, my kitties split a can of Science Diet Adult canned each night.

Just an interesting fyi - kitties very rarely get cavities like humans and dogs. They have their own special brand of dental disease called an oral resorptive lesion (ORL or FORL). No one knows for sure what causes them, but they are thought to be immune-related. The body breaks down the tooth and can cause painful lesions. These are extremely common! Make sure your vet is doing a thorough dental exam each time kitty visits the clinic so these can be caught early.
Reply:Cats and Dogs do require brushing from time to time. I think that there is some confusion in the general public about this issue.

Cats and Dogs can benefit from occasional brushings, but overall the saliva of both cats and dogs does an excellent job of keeping the animals teeth healthy.

Occasional biscuits that are designed to clean the tarter from the animals teeth and generally are good for the animal.
Reply:I think people just get lazy because cats %26amp; dogs are a pain to hold while you brush their teeth. But I definitely agree with you, although their teeth take longer to rot than human teeth, they will eventually rot. %26amp; its gross.
Reply:Cats do need their teeth brushed, as they can build up tartar and develop gum disease just like humans. In severe cases, teeth may have to be removed, which could be detrimental to a cat's being able to eat regular cat food, or defend itself outdoors. We take our cat into the vet to have his teeth cleaned about twice a year--his "kitty" insurance covers it!
Reply:both cats and dogs to require that you brush their teeth or get them cleaned or else when they get older their teeth will start to fall out
Reply:Cats don't need their teeth brushed. Of course your vet would say so - look how much more you have contributed to the economy by buying extra cat stuff like the brushes and paste! Dogs are a different story entirely....

Interpreting Dreams - Teeth falling out and different face?

I had a dream the other night where I pulled out one of my front teeth and the other one was smashed in half and rotten. I felt the rest of my teeth and the right hand half (top and bottom)were all loose enough to pull right out. I panicked a bit as I wasn't sure if I pulled them all out I'd be able to replace them. So I looked in the mirror. It wasn't my face. It was the face of a girl, fair skinned, plain looking and slightly swollen. She looked like something from another era. I tried to smile, and could feel myself struggling with the muscles and she couldn't quite move her skin in the same way as mine. It was me inside, looking at the reflection, but it wasn't mine. Scared the hell out of me! Any ideas on meanings?

Interpreting Dreams - Teeth falling out and different face?
Maybe you are feeling as though you don't know who you are at the moment, that you are racing around trying to keep everyone happy and that you are losing your own identity and not getting chance to be you.

As for the teeth I think that is another representation, in this case, that you are feeling that you have no control over things in your life at the moment and that your time and yourself almost is being given to other people to keep the peace.
Reply:Quite a few were interesting that I could relate to. Report It

Reply:I missed your question the first time.

I would've said that you were experiencing a past life and the tooth part indicates fear of losing control in front of others.

Good luck Report It

Reply:Wow, that must have been really scary. Maybe the dream had nothing to do with you. Maybe it something to do with somoeone you know.
Reply:Usually dreaming of losing teeth signifies that you are afraid of losing your good appearance - whether it's looks or character.
Reply:They say when one dreamt of teeth it means death in the family. Gladly the reflection was not yourself, it must be anyone of your family. Scary... right but dont be troubled, these are just interpretations, theres only one person who knows when we shall gonna go---GOD. Pray for safety and protection.
Reply:You and/or a friend's business life is struggling. Possibly due to your own decision or something that's already past.
Reply:It means that no matter what excuses you make for the other apparitions in your dreams, you can't rely on a dentist to do a good job in the face of crisis.

Phew!

There are some googly ones
Reply:To dream that you have rotten or decaying teeth, forewarns that your health and/or business is in jeopardy. You may have uttered some false or foul words and those words are coming back to haunt you.
Reply:you are going to either inherit money or loose it that's what it says in my dreams book
Reply:I've no idea just what your dream means ...it has to do with other things going on in your life (the answers are always personally subjective).... But, the reason I'm answering is that a few days ago I had a similar dream.

I fell asleep in a reclining chair in someone’s living room. In my dream I woke up to find that my face had come off ....and I was so scared by this and by the fact that others might see this and that it would TERRIFY them, that in my dream, I managed to get my face back on ...and in itself, a not pleasant experience.

When I woke properly, I felt shattered by the quality of sleep AND by the feelings from my dream - along with the images that staid in my memory.

Sash.
Reply:A dream of teeth crumbling or falling out means that you are anxious about changes in your life. Some have postulated that it goes back to a memory that we all share of the anxiety of our baby teeth falling out.

I dont know what the other part means. Maybe you dont feel like you're doing what you really ought to be doing? Have you just made a big decision that you wonder is the wrong one?
Reply:I had a dream of lossing my tooth,

and a week later my uncle passed away.

I was told that if you dream

about loosing tour tooth or teeth,

some one close usually your family member,

(exmp: sibblings, grand mother's sister, uncle, cousin etc)

is going to die.

so be nice to your family member :)
Reply:Dreaming that teeth fall out means feeling insecure. Changes in your life that might have you nervous?

About the second part: identity crisis?

I doubt someone is going to die, or any other big thing. Dreams are often just dreams: I'm part of a secret society and have almost been killed by a murderer. This woman just wanted to see if she 'could' kill us - the members of this group. The process took hours, I've demanded a national apology and became rich by writing a book - not to mention that I became best friends with the person who tried to murder me while she was in prison!

Really.... dreams are imagination. And even if some have a hidden meaning, most have not.
Reply:you are struggling with yourself, wrestling with your identity like so many in a society that preaches vanity, perfectness and beauty in order to succeed in this culture. You want to destroy the rest of your perceived beauty, what is happening is simply you're very aware of your personal blemishes and faults with your body as if you want to be as perfect as those portrayed in music dvd's and other media that you are exposed to on a daily basis. You have a low opinion of people who are struggling with abnormalities and persecution from a world that is Hellenistic to the extreme, you are being shown the ugliness of an uncaring heart, not necessarily your own inner heart, but the general stigma and unhappiness of those who are born beautiful in God's eyes but ugly to mans standards of beauty, you were looking at the reflection of God's heart, He was teaching you the deeper meaning of beauty, as you take your eyes off others, including your own reflection and look inwards and upwards you will discover a beauty so rare, it is kept locked inside your heart until a time when you let go of vanity within you and around you in your colleagues friends and acquaintances.
Reply:teeth rotten talks about pain and loose talks about losing them. The girl someone who is opressed as she tries to smile and cannot and is stuck in the past.

YOu have some fear and they stem from your past and you want to move on and be free from them. YOu can be talk to someone i will pray for you take care

Wisdom Teeth?

My friend has to get her's pulled and so we were talking about em. I don't think mine have grown in yet and i'm 17. Is that normal? Anywho, she said that when they do the best thing to do is get em pulled. Her sister told her that when Wisdom Teeth are growing they're already rotten. And if you leave em it'll cause infection and then spread to your other teeth. So the best thing to do is get em pulled. She's gonna get all her's pulled even though they all don't need it because of that.

Is that really true? If it is, I hope mine never come in.

Wisdom Teeth?
One thing to consider, unless there is alot of room for them to come in back there, they will push or crowd your other teeth. You might then have to revisit the whole braces world.
Reply:I don't knmow
Reply:Yeah, mine came in in my 20's and grew foward puting pressure on the molars forward...hurt badly, so I had them pulled.
Reply:It's normal that you may not have them in yet. I do know of a few people who's never came in (lucky them). It is not true that you have to get them pulled because they will automatically get infected. I know of some people who's never had a problem, so they never got them pulled. I got mine pulled because there was no room for them and it was pushing my other teeth together and out of wack. My husband on the other hand, had to get his pulled because they were starting to rot away and in this case, you need to get them pulled because infections can go to your brain. Anyway, the point is, your dentist will let you know whether or not you really should get them out.
Reply:No. That is not true. Wisdom teeth sometimes become impacted - meaning they are growing in sideways. Most people have them pulled when they are coming in wrong or if they are crowding other teeth. It depends on the size of your mouth as to whether or not your dentist will recommend their removal.
Reply:1. My wisdom teeth didn't come in until I was 20, some come in earlier some later (my boyfriends are just coming in, he's 23).

2. If your mouth has room and you brush your teeth and keep your mouth clean then there is no problem with not getting them pulled. Most people get them pulled because they aren't coming in straight or they don't have room for them to grow in. Rotten wisdom teeth aren't a common occurance, so if you keep your mouth and teeth clean you shouldn't have that problem.
Reply:they usually come in by the time you are in your early twenties, you are not too old yet, they are not always rotten, my son and daughter are in their thirties and they still have theirs and they are fine, get them pulled only if your dds recommends you to, and i doubt if your friend will get hers pulled even if she doesnt need it because there isnt a dds anywhere that will pull teeth that are not needing to be extracted, unless she goes to a quack
Reply:they usually come in by 21. they dont come in rotten, but, they could impact your other teeth... making them crooked.
Reply:Wisdom teeth wont rot your other teeth. People have up to four wisdom teeth, but most have less than that. They grow in behind your last molar in the back, and they should be pulled so that they dont smash against your other teeth, and make them crooked. They also hurt pretty bad, normally, you want to get them pulled before they surface on the gums. Your dentist can tell by doing an x-ray. Having them pulled doesnt hurt that bad, they put you out for the surgery, pull them, give you some pain killers, and your set. Youll be up and around within about four or five hours.
Reply:You are probably growing some; they should show up on dental x-rays. The teeth are normally sound when they first grow, but usually decay easily, so are often pulled at an early age. Mine were removed when I was in college; all four had acquired cavities.
Reply:thats perfectly normal to not have them in yet, everyone's teeth comes in at different rates and sometimes not at all... some people never get wisdom teeth. as for the wisdom teeth coming in rotten and infected... not true at all, wisdom teeth are extra teeth that our ancestors used to use but as humans have evolved, our jaws have gotten smaller... some people have small enough jaws where there is not enough room for the wisdom teeth to grow in vertically in your mouth so instead they grow horizontally into the rest of your teeth (impacted) this is where most of the problems come in... too much pressure cause pain on the rest of your teeth, also since the tooth cannot come in properly, infection may result... dentists look for how your wisdom teeth are growing in and usually they go ahead and remove them to avoid these problems but if your wisdom teeth grow in straight, you may not have to worry about anything at all and can just keep your wisdom teeth in...
Reply:Wisdom Teeth are just like any other tooth, they just grow in at a later time. They were important in past times, because by the time you hit your late teens, early twenties, many people had worn down their adult teeth. Since we have better dental care, people today keep their teeth longer and don't need the wisdom teeth.

Wisdom teeth can cause problems if when they grow in your jaw does not has room for them, or the roots twist with you radult teeth and they grow in crooked. Also they can alter your other teeth, because they might cause movement to even out in your jaw. They do not grow in rotten, your teeth rot from bad care or dental issues once they have emerged from your jaw. Regular dental care will spot cavities in your wisdom teeth before they spread to your other teeth, and x-rays can spot if they need to be removed before eruption. A bad wisdom tooth can be pulled or removed after erupting too, I've had three of mine pulled when they caused problems.

On the bright side, you might not get wisdom teeth. As humans continue to evolve, more and more people are being born without potential wisdom teeth.
Reply:They aren't infected when they come in unless you have an infection that spread to them. People get them removed because they are difficult to clean and become impacted easily.

I have bad teeth and I just want to have them all pulled out. Should I have it done?

I just turned 18 and I haven't been to a dentist since I was 12. That's when I had 6 of my back teeth pulled out. I had 4 back teeth pulled out before that so I have 10 teeth missing already. The teeth I have left all have cavities in them and a couple are broken. I know it will cost way more than I have to get them fixed and I really don't want them fixed. I'd really rather just have them all pulled out. I had all of my first teeth pulled out when I was 4 cuz they were all rotten and I didn't have any teeth at all for a couple of years so I what that's like. It's not nearly as bad as having ugly teeth that give you problems all the time. My mom hasn't had any teeth for years and I'd much rather go toothless or maybe get false teeth later on than go on like this. I don't have insurance so I'll have pay when I go. I just want them all out as soon as I can get it done even if I have to go toothless. My mom found a dentist with reasonable rates that will do it for me. Should I go for it?

I have bad teeth and I just want to have them all pulled out. Should I have it done?
Go for it! Your boyfriend will love you for it!!!
Reply:NO!!! that person has no idea what their talking about...you need to have teeth to get veneers anyways! Trust me you want to keep as many teeth as you possible can! I know you said your already missing 10 teeth but beleive me you want to keep the ones you have left. With a partial, some of your biting efficiency stays the same. If you have all of your teeth pulled then you will need a denture and they have a 14%!!!! biting efficiency!!! That means that if you like steak and sandwiches...say goodbye! It will take a lot more money to fix your teeth than to take them out but its worth it!!! You are young and your teeth are very important. You dont want to go to bed with your sweety and say "oh hold on let me take out my teeth first" thats disguisting!!! There are dental clinics in every county that will help you if you have no insurance...just contact your health dept.!!!! Good luck!!!
Reply:If I was you I would go for it. I did the same thing soon as I got out of school cuz I had really bad teeth my whole life too. You're right about it not being so bad without teeth. A lot of my family has no teeth or false teeth and they don't have problems. I haven't had any teeth for 3 years now and I feel better without them. I think my bad teeth were making me sick. Hope everything goes good for you when you do get them out.
Reply:If you're really sure that's what you want I'd go for it. But be sure cuz once your teeth are gone you'll never get anymore. I had all of mine out and I think it was the best thing I ever done cuz mine were bad too. I guess by what you say you kinda know what it's like to have no teeth already, and if you're ok with that I'd say go for it.
Reply:Go for it! Like H_bomb says your bf will love you for it. Some guys might be turned off about it, but I bet you'll be really surprised by how many really hot guys like it a lot. I had all mine pulled over 10 years ago when I was still in high school and I had no teeth ever since. I never been sorry I did it. My husband has never seen me with teeth because we didn't meet til I was 17 and I had no teeth for a couple years by then. He has always liked my smile. :-)
Reply:keep any savable tooth no artificial tooth is good as natural what ever it made of
Reply:If I was you I'd go for it. If your teeth are bad enough that the dentist is willing to pull them all then they can't be that great, probly not worth trying to save in the long run. Just get them out and then save up for new teeth, unless you don't mind not having any. I know a lot of people get along just fine without teeth. Your mom is a perfect example. My wife had all hers out when she was a little younger than you are and she's never had a problem. I had mine out when I was your age and had no problems either, except when I had to replace my dentures once cuz they were wore out.
Reply:Why don't you get an appointment for an exam and xrays of what you have left first, then have a consultation appointment with the dentist.

He'll recommend some options for you and you can decide for yourself.

Good luck.
Reply:you're just 18 years old. adult teeth are 32 in all, so losing 10 leaves you 22 natural teeth. if you say that some of them are broken or have cavities, hey! why would you want them pulled out? they're still savable! since your mom found a dentist with reasonable rates, why stick with old school? ask the dentist for other options aside from having them pulled out.
Reply:Have you heard of a toothbrush? At your age, you shouldnt have lost any teeth!!

A cavity or two is ok, but 10 teeth? OMG!! Beat your parents for not taking responsibility!
Reply:Yeah don't listen to the first person. You should not pull all of your teeth out. You should consult a dentist and try to come up with some sort of payment plan to have your teeth fixed. There is nothing more unattractive then a person with no teeth or bad teeth. Teeth are very important to the outside appearance. If you don't care about your appearance, then that's another story.
Reply:Leave your teeth dont pull them!no more sets of teeth! If you have any cavities fill them.Bad teeth vaneers or crowns!SEE there are many posible solutiions!!!NO PULLING!!!!

FILLINGS AND CROWNS=MODERATE PAIN

TOOTH EXTRACTION=GREAT PAIN!!!

Hope you change your mind:)
Reply:You should not have all of your teeth removed unless there is not other option. You should find a dentist that will work out a plan to fix your remaining teeth and a payment plan. You do need your teeth. You need them for eating most foods and you also need them to maintain your jawbone. People who have false teeth lose bone in their jaw and many eventually have insufficient bone to support false teeth. It also deforms your appearance. Tooth disease can have a negative affect on your general health, so you should work on this as soon as possible. If you live near a dental school you may be able to find low cost dental care at their student clinic. I urge you not to choose toothless. Once they're gone you never get to choose again.
Reply:I am sorry you have had so much dental trouble. Please reconsider before you get dentures. A good portion of your taste involves the palatal tissue. The taste of all your food will change, you will add more salt to enhance the flavor and it could be a detriment to your health. Also the arches of bone that support the dentures will slowly deteriorate over the years. Somewhere down the road you won't even be able to keep a denture in your mouth, it will flop all over. Just think about trying to eat an apple or carrots... any crispy vegetable or fruit. You'll go to a softer diet and again, the health is compromised. Studies have shown, those who have dentures usually have a shorter life span. Try to fix what you have, get some partials or later when you have a career and can afford it, get some implants. There are so many things that can be done now to enhance your smile, don't give up on those teeth! Good luck.
Reply:A reputable dentist would not pull out your teeth if he/she felt that they can be saved. Bad teeth can cause infection all through your body. No teeth or dentures will limit what you can eat. You need to talk in length with a good dentist. Get answers regarding a good dentist from your friends. Do not put this off any longer as you could develop other health issues.
Reply:If you dont mind having no teeth then go ahead, and maybe down the line you can get you some false teeth.
Reply:God! at 18 all your teeth have gone. very bad. repairing teeth is not very comfortable. One of my teeth was removed. The dentist said he will put a replacement. I agreed and gave him a hefty sum. Then he ground the nearby two teeth and fixed a 'bridge' , a false teeth. Now my two good tooth are spoiled in that process. So be careful about repairing.
Reply:no
Reply:It would probably be better for you to have them all pulled out and get dental venears.

Can you still get lumineers or veneers if your teeth are.....?

Can you still get lumineers or veneers if your teeth are really bad, crooked, rotten, growing out of your gums, and teeth missing? I'm 18 years old and have never been to a dentist in my life.

Can you still get lumineers or veneers if your teeth are.....?
No you can't get Lumineers or veneers right now. They are only cosmetic.

First you need to take care of all your dental health problems. This means fixing all the bad teeth.

Call and make an appointment for a dentist. Tell the person you talk to that you have never seen a dentist and have a lot of problems and want everything fixed so that you have a nice healthy smile.

Be prepared for a long expensive journey. 18 years of neglect can't be fixed overnight. The results will be worth the time and expense.

It probably will involve fillings, root canals, porcelain crowns and extractions of the teeth they can't save. The crowns are basically caps and look and feel like real teeth.

It might sound scary but dentistry these days doesn't hurt much. The Novocain shots do hurt a bit, but only for a few seconds.

Once your remaining teeth are healthy, you can get implants to replace any missing teeth and orthodontia to straighten your teeth.

When you are all through you will have a beautiful healthy smile. It will improve every aspect of your life.

I have a question about teeth & what could possibly cause them to rot?

I have already had 5 teeth pulled, and in a week I get 2 more pulled, but until I see the doctor, I have a question. Why are my teeth rotting from the inside out? First they seem to get soft, then they start breaking away and when I can see inside them, they are rotten. But on the outside, my teeth look fine? I don't do drugs (meth, etc), don't have gingivitis, periodontitis/Periodontal disease. I brush twice a day w/crest, rinse w/crest prohealth %26amp; floss. I have been taking a multivitamin for over a year now, drink alot of milk for vitamin D, and even quit drinking pop for 6 months, and I still ended up with more rotted teeth? Could anyone please help? I will ask my dentist next week but does anyone have any thoughts on this!!??!! The only thing I have been taking is my prescription Klonopin's, I have been on them since 1995, but I haven't found or read anywhere that they will rot your teeth?? So, I am at a loss!

I have a question about teeth %26amp; what could possibly cause them to rot?
Teeth rotting can be caused by three main reasons 1) genetics, 2) environment and 3) internal health.

1. The first one Genetics is an interesting thing to explain teeth rotting. Some women in Asia and Africa were given a special pregnancy "vitamin" and they all had children with teeth that were yellow spotted. Also if your mother had poor nutrition while pregnant, did drugs, or inhaled a lot of smoke; that does effect the fetus and thus the children are born with problems such as bad teeth.

2. The environment is also a factor. Do you live in a present day polluted environment that has chemical residues in the water you drink? And although you should be commended that you quit drinking "pop" for 6 months; did you drink if for years before hand. There are many studies that show that soda erodes the teeth enamel. It is just poison for the teeth and internal organs. Also smoking is linked to dental decay.
