Wisdom teeth or infected tooth?

My husband has been complaining about pain in his mouth for the last several days. It's been so bad he hasn't been able to sleep through the night. He told me black stuff came off of it (I say maybe it's rotten or something because he used to be bad about brushing his teeth before we met, and he doesn't floss!) but he thinks it's his wisdom teeth finally coming in (He's almost 25!!) I just got home from work and that side of his cheek is swollen and very hot to the touch. I don't think it's wisdom teeth, I think it's an infection. Hopefully we can make it to the dentist tomorrow but does anyone have any advice or ideas? Thanks!

Wisdom teeth or infected tooth?
It's probably infected. Black stuff comming out from "anywhere" but the ground is usually not a good sign.

If it hurts and it's hot and swollen also are indicators of an infection.

Get him to a dentist asap.
Reply:err that sounds like an infection...
Reply:Infection. If its this bad you may give him some Anbesol which is topical and some Advil or Tylenol. Twenty-Five is a bit too old to get wisdom teeth. "Wisdom teeth are the third molars that usually appear between the ages of 16 and 24. " So unless he's a very late bloomer. Also the black comment makes me say infection. I currently have my wisdom teeth coming in there annoying but not as you describe. They come in very gradually.
Reply:That is an infection. See someone as soon as possible tomorrow. If the swelling goes up into his eye or into his neck and starts to conflict with his airway you need to go to the ER asap. It might not be a bad idea to call and see if you can get antibiotics tonight to get a head start on them; however you might have to go to the hospital for that but they should also be able to give him something to help ease his pain.
Reply:Sounds like an infection. For the night you could try the heating pad (NO COLD) and 2 Advil with 2 extra strength Tylenol every 4-6 hours for pain. It's what my dentist recommend I do until I could come in. However don't take it to long...only until you can see the dentist.

At 25 he should have already have gotten his wisdom's but that doesn't mean anything. I am 32 and have just gone through hell with my wisdom's. I had to have surgery to have them removed and I am just now healing from that. I didn't have anything black coming from in my mouth...just alot of pain.

Can you do a root canal if the tooth next to it is rotten and needs to be pulled ?

I don't see why not. It probably depends on if the decay from the adjacent tooth has also invaded the root canal tooth and made it too weak/fractured to 'survive' the root canal. You should talk to your dentist about it.

Can you do a root canal if the tooth next to it is rotten and needs to be pulled ?
yes it can be done pull the rotten first and let it heal
Reply:YES, AND MAYBE YOU CAN GET A BRIDGE TO REPLACE THE ROTTEN TOOTH
Reply:Yes... a root canal can be done on one tooth even if there is a problem with the tooth beside it... I do, however, recommend that you also take care of the other tooth as well.
Reply:yes

My dog's breath/mouth smells like rotten fish. is it because of teething? what can i do about it? please help.
Look in his mouth and make sure there isn't any food stuck in between the teeth and make sure the teeth look white and the gums look pink and healthy.

If those look okay, it could be something he ate.

You can try brushing his teeth with a dog toothbrush and paste that you can get at the pet store.

If you are concerned about it, see a vet.
Reply:Have you been to the vet? Sounds like his diet may not be the best. Your not feeding him Salmon, so change his food. Get Royal Canin it's formulated by breed and weight, age.

Smells wonderful the moment you open the bag.

Does he get suppliments that could cause that smell.

Petco or any good pet store sells it.
Reply:i would have his kidney functions tested.
Reply:My puppy had the same problem... Ask your vet for a liquid medication called Clinsol liquid. My vet perscribed it, instructed me in how much to give her (since she's so small), and told me to go a week on the medication. I gave her the liquid twice a day, and by the third or fourth day, I noticed that her breath wasn't smelling at all.

Teeth problems?

I have four teeth that are in bad shape. They are rotten away, broke off even with the gum, you can see the inside of the tooth? How bad is the promble? CAN IT LEAD TO CANCER?

Teeth problems?
It can't lead to cancer, but bacteria, if it goes into your blood stream can causr you heart problems. Go to a dentist get them pulled, and get some antibiotics.
Reply:nope, u wont get cancer. if u go to a dentist NOW they mite b able to fix it. other wise ull have to get them pulled out and dependin where they r, get a denture made.
Reply:CANCER BECAUSE OF THE TEETH...........NO.

EXTRACTIONS OF WHAT'S LEFT OF THOSE TEETH..... YES!
Reply:A consultation with a good dentist is the best thing for you.
Reply:Get them pulled out before they really give you big trouble, like a terrible toothache over a holiday weekend. Been there, done that and it's no fun. If they're that far gone the best thing to do is just get rid of them and any problems they're causing will go away with them.
Reply:You should deffintly go to a dentist to get that checked. If your teeth are rotten or rotting away.. That could lead to bad heath problems. Why would you wait this long to get it checked. Plus if your teeth are rotting your mouth should smell really bad.
Reply:You need to go to the Dentist ASAP!! You shouldn't play around with your teeth. Why haven't you gone to the dentist? I am guessing you don't have dental.

I didn't have any dental coverage so I started looking around and found a company that offer health benefits. This is not insurance.

It costs $11.95 a month for an individual and $19.95 a month for a entire household.

Along with your Dental you get- Free Vision, Free Prescription and Free Chiropractic care at no extra cost.

Be careful when looking into health benefits though. It's different from insurance. You need to look into the company very carefully. The company I am talking about is great. They have been in business for 14yrs members of the BBB and have over 1.5 million customers.

I really trust them in giving me good care and having lots of providers.

I sure hope your teeth get fixed. Good luck to you.

Guys, would you not date a girl because of bad teeth?

I'm very good looking and very nice. My teeth are discolored from antibiotics I took when I was younger. I rarely smile and am very depressed about this. The only solution is veneer which costs around $5000 which I don't have. Whitening procedures may help a bit but not much. I do go to a dentist twice a year and brush my teeth, it's not like they're rotten or anything. Has anyone tried crest strips? Back to the subject, no one is perfect. I'm just wondering how important perfect, white teeth are! And like I said, I

am very hot just not my teeth.

Guys, would you not date a girl because of bad teeth?
Well it's not a big problem if your trying really hard to whiten them like you are, it's only a problem when they don't care that their teeth look like baked beans.
Reply:As long as you don't have a bad breath.... its fine
Reply:yes because bad teeth are very ugly
Reply:I'm not a guy but good teeth are a must. You talk and kiss and and eat with a person and you see teeth quite a bit. Not everyone cares about teeth, even really hot guys will date a girl with gross teeth if she is still pretty, but the one thing is people jump to conclusions like you arent clean and never brush, if you like someone just explain to them why they are that way and they bug you and if the guy doesnt like it, let him walk.
Reply:as long as you have teeth..
Reply:Any real man would see beyond the teeth and know that he

could have his wife's teeth fixed...
Reply:It does make some difference. My gf has bad teeth and it's kind of embarrassing.
Reply:I'd have to see them to know, for sure. I don't think it would exclude you, though.
Reply:its mebbe easy for u to say..but all a gurl needs to make a guy fall for him is her smile..they go crazy over it...n thats what ur spoiling...its not that i am blaming u..but eventually..dont try to show ne guy ur HOT!! just show them u have a gr8 heart n u'll find the guy hu will love u despite ne physical feature of urs...
Reply:Your right, no one is perfect. A cute smile with pearly whites showing tends to be on my top 3 things i look for in a female.
Reply:Have you tried rinsing with hydrogen peroxide, right from the bottle. I use it daily, and it's cheap..........If you dont mind foaming at the mouth, briefly. :)
Reply:no because thats not a big problem for me and their is always more girl then bad teeth
Reply:so are you saying you 'would' date a girl with bad teeth??

that's so sweet!!!

i think most people think white teeth are important because it means a person takes good care of their mouth. most people don't think maybe a person has discolored teeth because of medication. they just think the person doesn't take care of their mouth.

i guess from now on i'll just have to make sure it's not from neglect. because NO ONE wants to date a guy that don't take care of his mouth.

i use crest plus whitening toothpaste. have you tried white light treatments. they sell the kits at walmart now. i have used it once and it worked for me.

i hope one day you will be happy with your smile. but don't get a big head when you do. keep being a sweety.
Reply:As you are very hot, I am sure you can have secret little meetings with guys but few would like to be seen with you as their girlfriend but as your main attraction is that you are hot and not classy, educated, interesting with a good personality, once they unload you will have served your purpose. At least you can get a good night's sleep, you won't have to put up with snoring or guys farting in bed.
Reply:I would work OT and save up for the veneer. Make that your top priority. I know it sucks to have to worry so much about the surface stuff but for most people bad teeth are a hard thing to get past.

If you have a decent job you can get a loan for the procedure. If you are too young to be working tell your parents thats all you want for Christmas. Or that you'll pay them back. Can you justget the front top ones done to start with?
Reply:theres an old saying that i personally go by:"Never judge a book by its cover"if they open it read it and explore it then theyll find the true meaning of the book........all though this nation is tied up in the front page it makes it diffacult to express the real side of us.........then i go back to how it was when there was no toothbrush or running water, cosmetics"did they care about LOOKS no its all fixed in are tiny minds looks are the frontier of are life so sad .........believe that there is someone that DOSENT JUDGE YOU BY THE COVER ............if they love you and they know the real then u got it made ......i guess im spending 5 g on my gf she has a lil prob but she wont tell me ,i notice it but like i said i explored the book ,the cover dosent matter!!!!
Reply:bad teeth are a major turn off for me.......they dont have to be perfect, but they need to look nice as possible.....

Why would you think cats don't need their teeth brushed?

Some people think treats clean the teeth. Do treats clean your teeth? I highly doubt it. Our vet says to brush their teeth and use the pet toothbrushes and pet toothpaste and it'll save on future vet bills with decayed cat teeth. We had a dog with bad teeth and nothing is worse than that rotten pet mouth licky kiss.

Why would you think cats don't need their teeth brushed?
At our clinic, I do anywhere from 4-8 dental cleanings on cats each week. That's just me! Our other two technicians probably do the same number! These cleanings need to be done under general anesthesia and probably half the time, we end up pulling one or more teeth. Though anesthesia nowadays is very safe, there is still an inherent risk in any anesthetic procedure. Extending time between professional dental cleanings is not only better for the cat's teeth, but her overall health (and the owner's pocket book!) :-)

When I discharge a kitty after a dental cleaning, the first thing I always recommend is brushing the teeth. Kitties tend to be less cooperative about this than dogs, but for many, it can be done. We recommend brushing 2-3 times a week. The only time I would suggest NOT brushing, would be in cases where the owner/pet relationship suffers because of it. If kitty runs under the bed every time you approach her, it is just not worth it.

Another option for cats who won't tolerate brushing is a new product called OraVet. It is a barrier sealant that helps prevent plaque from sticking to the teeth. It only needs to be applied weekly. See http://www.oravet.us.merial.com/ I use it on my own kitties.

There are also diets on the market designed specifically to prevent tartar build-up on kitty teeth. A few examples are Hill's Prescription t/d and Science Diet Oral Care, Purina DH and Royal Canin Dental DD. My own kitties eat t/d and love it.

Most hard food on the market does nothing to maintain dental health in a cat. It is a myth that hard food (except those listed above) is better for the teeth than soft food. Most hard food crumbles into tiny pieces as soon as kitty bites into it. The only part of the tooth being scrubbed is the very tip! Adding soft food to your cat's diet will add much needed moisture. Kitties simply do not drink enough to make up for the lack of water in their diets if they are only fed hard food. In addition to t/d, my kitties split a can of Science Diet Adult canned each night.

Just an interesting fyi - kitties very rarely get cavities like humans and dogs. They have their own special brand of dental disease called an oral resorptive lesion (ORL or FORL). No one knows for sure what causes them, but they are thought to be immune-related. The body breaks down the tooth and can cause painful lesions. These are extremely common! Make sure your vet is doing a thorough dental exam each time kitty visits the clinic so these can be caught early.
Reply:Cats and Dogs do require brushing from time to time. I think that there is some confusion in the general public about this issue.

Cats and Dogs can benefit from occasional brushings, but overall the saliva of both cats and dogs does an excellent job of keeping the animals teeth healthy.

Occasional biscuits that are designed to clean the tarter from the animals teeth and generally are good for the animal.
Reply:I think people just get lazy because cats %26amp; dogs are a pain to hold while you brush their teeth. But I definitely agree with you, although their teeth take longer to rot than human teeth, they will eventually rot. %26amp; its gross.
Reply:Cats do need their teeth brushed, as they can build up tartar and develop gum disease just like humans. In severe cases, teeth may have to be removed, which could be detrimental to a cat's being able to eat regular cat food, or defend itself outdoors. We take our cat into the vet to have his teeth cleaned about twice a year--his "kitty" insurance covers it!
Reply:both cats and dogs to require that you brush their teeth or get them cleaned or else when they get older their teeth will start to fall out
Reply:Cats don't need their teeth brushed. Of course your vet would say so - look how much more you have contributed to the economy by buying extra cat stuff like the brushes and paste! Dogs are a different story entirely....

Interpreting Dreams - Teeth falling out and different face?

I had a dream the other night where I pulled out one of my front teeth and the other one was smashed in half and rotten. I felt the rest of my teeth and the right hand half (top and bottom)were all loose enough to pull right out. I panicked a bit as I wasn't sure if I pulled them all out I'd be able to replace them. So I looked in the mirror. It wasn't my face. It was the face of a girl, fair skinned, plain looking and slightly swollen. She looked like something from another era. I tried to smile, and could feel myself struggling with the muscles and she couldn't quite move her skin in the same way as mine. It was me inside, looking at the reflection, but it wasn't mine. Scared the hell out of me! Any ideas on meanings?

Interpreting Dreams - Teeth falling out and different face?
Maybe you are feeling as though you don't know who you are at the moment, that you are racing around trying to keep everyone happy and that you are losing your own identity and not getting chance to be you.

As for the teeth I think that is another representation, in this case, that you are feeling that you have no control over things in your life at the moment and that your time and yourself almost is being given to other people to keep the peace.
Reply:Quite a few were interesting that I could relate to. Report It

Reply:I missed your question the first time.

I would've said that you were experiencing a past life and the tooth part indicates fear of losing control in front of others.

Good luck Report It

Reply:Wow, that must have been really scary. Maybe the dream had nothing to do with you. Maybe it something to do with somoeone you know.
Reply:Usually dreaming of losing teeth signifies that you are afraid of losing your good appearance - whether it's looks or character.
Reply:They say when one dreamt of teeth it means death in the family. Gladly the reflection was not yourself, it must be anyone of your family. Scary... right but dont be troubled, these are just interpretations, theres only one person who knows when we shall gonna go---GOD. Pray for safety and protection.
Reply:You and/or a friend's business life is struggling. Possibly due to your own decision or something that's already past.
Reply:It means that no matter what excuses you make for the other apparitions in your dreams, you can't rely on a dentist to do a good job in the face of crisis.

Phew!

There are some googly ones
Reply:To dream that you have rotten or decaying teeth, forewarns that your health and/or business is in jeopardy. You may have uttered some false or foul words and those words are coming back to haunt you.
Reply:you are going to either inherit money or loose it that's what it says in my dreams book
Reply:I've no idea just what your dream means ...it has to do with other things going on in your life (the answers are always personally subjective).... But, the reason I'm answering is that a few days ago I had a similar dream.

I fell asleep in a reclining chair in someone’s living room. In my dream I woke up to find that my face had come off ....and I was so scared by this and by the fact that others might see this and that it would TERRIFY them, that in my dream, I managed to get my face back on ...and in itself, a not pleasant experience.

When I woke properly, I felt shattered by the quality of sleep AND by the feelings from my dream - along with the images that staid in my memory.

Sash.
Reply:A dream of teeth crumbling or falling out means that you are anxious about changes in your life. Some have postulated that it goes back to a memory that we all share of the anxiety of our baby teeth falling out.

I dont know what the other part means. Maybe you dont feel like you're doing what you really ought to be doing? Have you just made a big decision that you wonder is the wrong one?
Reply:I had a dream of lossing my tooth,

and a week later my uncle passed away.

I was told that if you dream

about loosing tour tooth or teeth,

some one close usually your family member,

(exmp: sibblings, grand mother's sister, uncle, cousin etc)

is going to die.

so be nice to your family member :)
Reply:Dreaming that teeth fall out means feeling insecure. Changes in your life that might have you nervous?

About the second part: identity crisis?

I doubt someone is going to die, or any other big thing. Dreams are often just dreams: I'm part of a secret society and have almost been killed by a murderer. This woman just wanted to see if she 'could' kill us - the members of this group. The process took hours, I've demanded a national apology and became rich by writing a book - not to mention that I became best friends with the person who tried to murder me while she was in prison!

Really.... dreams are imagination. And even if some have a hidden meaning, most have not.
Reply:you are struggling with yourself, wrestling with your identity like so many in a society that preaches vanity, perfectness and beauty in order to succeed in this culture. You want to destroy the rest of your perceived beauty, what is happening is simply you're very aware of your personal blemishes and faults with your body as if you want to be as perfect as those portrayed in music dvd's and other media that you are exposed to on a daily basis. You have a low opinion of people who are struggling with abnormalities and persecution from a world that is Hellenistic to the extreme, you are being shown the ugliness of an uncaring heart, not necessarily your own inner heart, but the general stigma and unhappiness of those who are born beautiful in God's eyes but ugly to mans standards of beauty, you were looking at the reflection of God's heart, He was teaching you the deeper meaning of beauty, as you take your eyes off others, including your own reflection and look inwards and upwards you will discover a beauty so rare, it is kept locked inside your heart until a time when you let go of vanity within you and around you in your colleagues friends and acquaintances.
Reply:teeth rotten talks about pain and loose talks about losing them. The girl someone who is opressed as she tries to smile and cannot and is stuck in the past.

YOu have some fear and they stem from your past and you want to move on and be free from them. YOu can be talk to someone i will pray for you take care
Reply:teeth is important in dreams and life..when you meet someoen new..you smile..if you have a teeth falling out in your dreams.you are afraid of what others might think of you...for teeth play such an important role...check ou tthe dream interpretations sight....im sure im right..actually.i know im right
