Here's the deal. There's this rope swing on a tree near our house and we swing out really far and land in a big pile of leaves. I was on the rope swing and when I came off, I landed on my sister who was in the leaves. My mouth hit her knee and messed up my teeth pretty bad. A couple were knocked out and some were broken. My mom took me to the dentist on Monday and I ended up having the cracked and broken teeth pulled out. So now my top 6 front teeth are gone. I had my molars pulled out a couple years ago cuz they were rotten and it was gonna cost too much to get them fixed. I only have 3 top teeth left, so would it be better to just get them pulled out too? My bottom front teeth are loose too and the dentist isn't sure how they're gonna be. Like he don't know yet if they'll be ok or if I'll lose them too eventually. I'm 14, so am I too young to get fake teeth? Or will I just have to have no teeth like my mom? Will guys still look at me?

Tell your parents that their Homeowners Insurance may cover the cost to replace your teeth.
You only have 3 teeth left? Save them if you can, you can use them as 'anchor' teeth if'/when you get partials.
When you get older, you can have something more permanent made...

You are not too young to get false teeth.
A bridge made of porcelain teeth is VERY expensive, but you may be able to get a payment plan from a dentist on false teeth, that include a full set of upper teeth made of plastic or a resin material. They may pull the rest of the teeth, or they may keep them and make a full partial and the existing teeth can create suction or an anchor (so to speak) to keep the teeth in better.
If you don't have dental insurance, you may want to try calling the closest dental school and supervised students can make the teeth for you at a very low cost.

Reply:aww, i'm so sorry to hear about that! well yeah the girl who answered first pretty much covered it, but i feel so bad for you! luckily, no one will probably be able to tell you even have false teeth..heck my 80 year old grandparents had them and i had no idea they did until after they told me..and yes..guys will still look at you...i dont think dentures and those "lumineers" that all the famous people get have too much difference anyway.

Reply:I had all of mine pulled out when I turned 18 and it's not so bad with no teeth. If I was you I'd just get rid of the rest too. If they're not that good you'll only have to have them pulled later on. It's not like 3 teeth are really gonna do you any good. I'd rather have no teeth like I have now than just a few here and there. Besides, if you have them all out you can get fake teeth to look however you want if to. I'm not sure how much they cost tho cuz I still have just gums.
Reply:I lost my front teeth too when I was really young from a bicycle accident. I ended up just having the rest pulled and getting a full set of false teeth at 15 because the teeth I had left weren't that great and it was cheaper to just pull them all and get all false teeth. I've never been sorry I decided to just go all the way even tho when I take them out I have no teeth at all. Yes guys will still look at you and want you if you're a nice person. If you're a B**#^%26amp; it don't matter what you look like guys will still steer clear of you. I got all new teeth for like $600.00 and they're ok. Not great but ok. BTW, some guys think being able to take your teeth out is a big plus.

What health problems can rotten teath cause?
I have had this problem with my teath for 10 years now, the bottom teath are fine, but the tops are rotten, decayed, cracked, chipped...I never did brush three times a day like dentist say you sould. But I do brush about 3 times a week. I hate brushing my teeth, but when i don't feel like brushing I use mouthwash instead to kill germs etc. What is any, health problems could develop from my teeth being in such bad shape...?

If you keep up the tri-weekly brushing habit you have you eventually will lose your teeth. When you can't chew your food properly the food misses out on that first stage of digestion (mastication breakdown) and that makes the rest of your digestive system have to work harder.
Think about what happens to animals when they start losing their teeth...they can't eat so they die.
It's just part of the very simple plan of good health habits. If we don't follow them, we pay in someway later.

Wisdom teeth or infected tooth?
My husband has been complaining about pain in his mouth for the last several days. It's been so bad he hasn't been able to sleep through the night. He told me black stuff came off of it (I say maybe it's rotten or something because he used to be bad about brushing his teeth before we met, and he doesn't floss!) but he thinks it's his wisdom teeth finally coming in (He's almost 25!!) I just got home from work and that side of his cheek is swollen and very hot to the touch. I don't think it's wisdom teeth, I think it's an infection. Hopefully we can make it to the dentist tomorrow but does anyone have any advice or ideas? Thanks!

If it hurts and it's hot and swollen also are indicators of an infection.
Get him to a dentist asap.

I currently have my wisdom teeth coming in there annoying but not as you describe. They come in very gradually.

It might not be a bad idea to call and see if you can get antibiotics tonight to get a head start on them; however you might have to go to the hospital for that but they should also be able to give him something to help ease his pain.
Reply:Sounds like an infection. For the night you could try the heating pad (NO COLD) and 2 Advil with 2 extra strength Tylenol every 4-6 hours for pain. It's what my dentist recommend I do until I could come in. However don't take it to long...only until you can see the dentist.
At 25 he should have already have gotten his wisdom's but that doesn't mean anything. I am 32 and have just gone through hell with my wisdom's. I had to have surgery to have them removed and I am just now healing from that. I didn't have anything black coming from in my mouth...just alot of pain.

Can you do a root canal if the tooth next to it is rotten and needs to be pulled ?
I don't see why not. It probably depends on if the decay from the adjacent tooth has also invaded the root canal tooth and made it too weak/fractured to 'survive' the root canal. You should talk to your dentist about it.

Look in his mouth and make sure there isn't any food stuck in between the teeth and make sure the teeth look white and the gums look pink and healthy.
If those look okay, it could be something he ate.
You can try brushing his teeth with a dog toothbrush and paste that you can get at the pet store.
If you are concerned about it, see a vet.

My vet perscribed it, instructed me in how much to give her (since she's so small), and told me to go a week on the medication. I gave her the liquid twice a day, and by the third or fourth day, I noticed that her breath wasn't smelling at all.
