Can you do a root canal if the tooth next to it is rotten and needs to be pulled ?

I don't see why not. It probably depends on if the decay from the adjacent tooth has also invaded the root canal tooth and made it too weak/fractured to 'survive' the root canal. You should talk to your dentist about it.

yes it can be done pull the rotten first and let it heal

Reply:Yes... a root canal can be done on one tooth even if there is a problem with the tooth beside it... I do, however, recommend that you also take care of the other tooth as well.
