HELP!!! I'm 35 weeks pregnant and my teeth are rotting and chipping away!!! What's going on!!! Will it stop???

I always had great teeth and today I noticed a rough spot on the back of my bottom front teeth and noticed a little piece of my tooth had chipped off. Then I saw the sides of my teeth looked a little rotten and when I took my nail across that piece of my tooth came off!!! Is this going to continue on until I have nothing left of my teeth??? I take my prenatel vitamins everyday, and drink alot of milk. I have a doctors appointment in 2 weeks. Need some advice now. Thanks in advance.

Pregnancy can have a little effect on teeth, but not that much. It sounds like you have a more serious problem, like periodontal disease or just a whole lot of decay. Go get checked out by a dentist.

Dont listen to everyone else. The amount of nutrients that the baby is taking, is no where near enough to cause your teeth to chip and break. If you take other medicines, it can cause dry mouth. This will cause your teeth to decay rather rapidly. You could just need a cleaning. It might be the hardened plaque (called calculus) chipping away. People often think this is there tooth. There are a lot of things, just go get an exam.
Reply:Thank you so much for your educated answer. I actually researched the calculus and I think that's what it was. I am now taking calcium pill and no more chips. My teeth are doing very well. Report It

Reply:In all likelihood your teeth were rotting prior to pregnancy, but now that you are pregnant and the nutrition is going to the baby, it is all that more evident. Your first priority is always the baby and you should ask your OB-Gyn when the best time is for you to go to the dentist and do it ASAP. No xrays for you, but at least start getting things under control. Vitamins are great but they can't fix what is already broken.
Reply:Make an emergency appointment at the doctors/dentist!
Reply:The baby is using up your calcium!

Have no idea why your vitamins and milk aren't helping.
Reply:congradulations first of all.... being pregnant can actually cause tooth/teeth decay...its kinda like not ever being diabetic until you get pregnant (not trying to scare you). it is rare for you to start getting cavities while pregnant but its not uncommon. your fetus is getting all of the neutrants it needs thats all. and just incase youre wondering....it is perfectally safe for you to have dental x-rays and procedures done while being pregnant, and in a lot of cases that ive seen, most insurances will pay for the dental procedures while youre pregnant
Reply:When I was pregnant, I started to get gingivitis. It is most common for teeth to start to rot or move slightly or whatever when pregnant. I recomend going to the dentist. I know someone on here said that they will give x-ray while pregnant but the experience I have had proves otherwise so do not expect that. The dentist can give you calcium medication and such to help out where it is needed. Teeth are not the only thing that can get affected by a pregnancy also. I got gestational diabetes while pregnant. Just take care of yourself and eat healthy.
Reply:Mild won't do anything to your teeth other than rot them if you keep milk in your mouth long enough. Milk has acid.

If the enamel came off then you do have caries or a cavity.

Get it filled asap before the baby. If not, you won't once you have the baby (no time/lower priority)
