I always have to keep after her to brush, and she avoids it whenever she can. She's had quite a few teeth pulled already for a 13 year old, and a lot of fillings too, but she just won't take care of her teeth. She's fussy about her clothes and hair, but her teeth are all getting rotten. I recently took her sister(my oldest) to the dentist and he said she'll probly have to get dentures soon because she has so many teeth missing and so many that will have to come out before long and she just turned 15. She recently started brushing more, but the teeth she has left are literally rotting out of her head. I know bad teeth run in my family because I lost all my teeth when I was 15 and I haven't had any teeth or dentures since then, but I think it couldn't hurt if they at least tried to take care of their teeth some. I really can't afford crowns and root canals and some of the expensive stuff they do to save teeth these days. How do I get them to brush more often or better?
How do I get my daughters to take better care of her teeth?
I tried getting my boys one of those fancy electric toothbrushes. They got to pick it out and even though it was a little pricey, they like using the toothbrushes. Its kinda fun.
Reply:tell her none of the boys will like her if she has nasty teeth...and then go give money to boys to go up and tell her they don't like her because she has nasty teeth.
Reply:The problem is, if you have bad teeth in the family, there isn't really an insentive for the little girl to do anything. You could show her horror pictures, tell her of deadly bacteria that will kill her unless she takes care of her teeth...or just tell her how painful treatments can be. Most likely, her beeing a teenager, you have already lost the battle and should try and see if you can find any way to raise the extra money. It's really sad though, that she does not take care of her teeth...but hardly your fault, she most likely just assumes she will lose them all and does not want to bother. Or she might not like the taste of the toothpaste...
Best of luck, regardless!
Reply:show her a picture of a meth addict and tell her she looks like that, it will scare her im sure
Reply:Your daughter learns by example in how to care for her teeth by the kind of care she has been given for her teeth, and how important she deserves to feel with dental care, even if you are only able to make payments to do this for her. Show and treat her like she is important enough for this, and so much deserves this kind of care and attention for her teeth and well being. One thing you could try to help her want to brush them, is to let her choose the kind and flavor of her toothpaste, even if it is all hers, and let her choose a toothbrush that is pretty to her. Or if she would rather have an electric toothbrush, let her choose this. They are very reasonable now days, and can't be purchased for as little as $6.00. Buy a pretty cup holder kind of thing in a color she likes to set out on the bathroom counter for her toothbrush and toothpaste to stand up in, to help her remember and feel special about her teeth. Another thought I just had, is that if her teeth are this bad already, and she has not had the care and attention of a dentist or hygeinist she likes and is comfortable with for regular checkups and education about her teeth, could it be painful for her to brush? I think if she feels supported and important enough in her dental care, with no mention to her that it is to costly to address these important needs of hers, that she will soon want to take the best care she can of what she has. She will feel pride, and deserving.
Reply:Google for some pictures of rotten teeth, turn her around and show her the light, that could happen to her teeth! and maybe start a reward system. using money and taking her to placces, i'm thirteen and love brushing my teeth i think it tickles, i know that sounded so stupid, but i cant stand having nasty teeth, it grosses me out so bad! and well its just wrong, and my guy-freinds hate bad teeth, i know that sounds akward, but they make fin of this one girl about her ugly teeth that are liek eeeew and ritting out and are always so yellow.
te,ll your daugher that!
Reply:I think Monica N maight be on to something there. I had really bad teeth all thru school(it runs in my family too) and I always assumed I'd lose all of my teeth before I was 20. No matter what I did they just kept rotting away so I gave up. I already had about half of them pulled by the time I got to high school and what I had left were falling apart, so soon as I got out of school first thing I did was have what was left pulled out. No teeth at all is better than bad teeth.
Reply:Don't they fluoridate the water where you live? My father-in-law lived in an area that had natural fluoride in the water, and he had all his teeth and no filings when he died at 81. My dog is as old as your daughter, and has all his teeth with no cavities.
Reply:Why don't you try to set an example and go to the dentist yourself and get fitted with dentures. Maybe if they see you making an effort to improve yourself, they may see that the suffering you have gone through from losing all of your teeth is just not worth the hassle and taking care of their own teeth may be something worthwhile.
Reply:Don't hate me for this but you are the parent she is the child. even if she is destined to lose them all gum care is still important. If that means you have to walk them over to the sink after breakfast after school, after dinner and before bed. Remember YOU are the one that is the adult and the one in charge. I know they didn't brush in preschool with out coaching. If you must get childish with them make a chart and evey time They don't brush they get a punishment. Remember it is your job and responcibilty to Make them do the things they must. would you be passive if they were drinkig or on drugs. people don't want to belive it but if not removed promptly your rotten teeth CAN kill you. look it up it was in the new lately.
Reply:Don't be worried. All you have to do is make it fun for them. Maybe make a rewards chart or try to encourage them a little better. Maybe let them choose their tooth paste and tooth brush that they like to motivate them.
Reply:dont let her chip them or eat to much candy because that can effect it, and you dont want that to happen, or take her to the dentist for dental care.

Can anti depressents ruin your teeth?
I always had perfect teeth. Everyone always complimented me on how straight and white my teeth were. When I turned 21 my teeth started to go rotten now i'm 25 and i probably have the worst teeth out ot the people my age in this world. I don't get it because I always brushed, flased and went to the dentist every six months for a cleaning. I can't go to the dentist because I have no insurance and it's way to expensive. I suffered from depression from the age of 14 and have always been on different anti depressents. Can these types of pills ruin your teeth? I also have overdosed a lot in the past and had to drink a lot of charcol can charcol ruin a persons teeth? I can't think of any other reason for my teeth being so horrible.
Please don't make fun I only want serious answers.
Thanks
Can anti depressents ruin your teeth?
Antidepressants are one of the leading drug classes that can have a side-effect of dry-mouth. Dry mouth will ruin your teeth faster than anything else I can think of. What kind of drugs are you overdosing on? That could very well be your problem too. Many illegal drugs will also cause dry mouth, especially smoking meth. Bottom line is that it is very possible that a prescribed medication or illegal drug is ruining your teeth by causing dry mouth. The charcoal is not doing anything.
Reply:I'm not sure about anti depressants but i do know that some medications have side effects like having a dry mouth and less saliva and that means less natural cleansing of bacteria from the mouth, more cavity causing bacteria may be a part of your problem due to a side effect of drymouth from your pills. I think paying for prevention such as adental cleaning is going to save you money in the long run. Cleanings help prevent cavities as we cant remove every bit of plaque and hardened plaque or tartar can only be removed with an instrument by a hygienist not at home with your toothbrush. Fillings cost a LOT more than a cleaning and if you go for regular cleanings combined with good home oral care you will need a lot less fillings and save yourself a lot of money and you will look and feel good too.

Rotten second molar?
I had a silver cap over my second molar and it stayed on for a good 6-8 years(maybe longer ) and it one say it fell off, but when it did the tooth under was half rotten down into the center and is starting to expose my roots. Everytime i get any food at all, water warm or cold it sends a huge shock through my entire face. Its extremely painfun, i went to the dentist before but they just cleaned my other teeth and scheduled a root canal for 3 of my teeth but i never went back, just wandering should i try and pull my molar by my self? its so painful its hard to sleep.
Rotten second molar?
DO NOT TRY TO PULL IT YOURSELF.
There is nothing you can do at home to numb a tooth enough to pull it yourself. The nerves that gives the tooth pain sensation is deep in the bone, and there is nothing over-the-counter you can apply to your gums that can get into the bone to sufficiently numb a rotten tooth enough to be pulled. If you try, you will be in excruciating pain and may cause serious injury to yourself.
A dentist knows how to numb the tooth and has the right instruments to take out the tooth. The longer you wait, the longer you suffer.
Reply:NO. Don't try to do it yourself!! Go to the doctor immediately. Infections in the mouth can spread to your blood stream and become deadly if not treated properly.
Reply:NO! Stick with the dentist!
Reply:You probably need to get a root canal.
Reply:Your tooth had a temporary stainless steel crown on it. Someone should have told you this was just a temporary measure. In any case, do not attempt to remove your tooth yourself. It will hurt like heck, and you won't get it out, you will at best break it and possibly make it harder for the dentist to remove it. GO and see a dentist about it!
Reply:do not try to pull it out
if the tooth is that rotten it can break and will cause you more pain
if you cover the tooth so no air will get at it you will stop the pain.
The best thing is ezo denture cushions
they are made from wax and they also have gauze on them they are thin and they mold to the shape you need them
just cut the size you need.
if you can not get them you can use a make up pad or gauze or cotton
Try to make it thin
if it is a hole you can fill it with wax a candle (not scented) and if you have none of the above and you can not go out
you can even cut a piece out of a clean face cloth
any thing you have around the house that will keep the air off of it.
just make sure it is thin or your mouth might get sore from trying to hold it in place
hope this helps
Reply:If your secodn moalr is decyayed, then get your wisdom tooth behind it removed, as it may be the aggravating issue. There is no sucjh thing as letting your wisdom totoh come up in the space created by removing the second molar. To find out more go to

How much does it cost to get teeth pulled?
Does anyone know how much it might cost to get rotten and broken off teeth out of your mouth?
How much does it cost to get teeth pulled?
To much, if you don't have dental insurance. I had a severe tooth abscess that affected several teeth. Was referred to an oral surgeon and was charged cash in excess of 100.00 bucks per tooth. Scary, expensive, hope you have better luck and find a well qualified Doctor, that doesn't try to get his retirement funds from one person. LOL, not really funny, but dang, so much money and so little choice, if one has a Dental problem that must be addressed.
Reply:prob depends on dentist where i like it is like $50 a tooth then it would also depend if you needed fake teeth to replace it
Reply:Not much, only pain and suffering.
Reply:.99 cents...or whatever some floss costs you.
tie it to a door and slam it
Reply:My dentist here in Ohio charges $90 a tooth. This is a higher end community so not really sure elsewhere what it would cost. Good luck! I am having dental issues as we speak. LOL I hate going to the dentist.
Reply:This type of extraction is not easy. Your roots may be curved and depending on the tooth or teeth that are being extracted some teeth like the Eye teeth are really hard since they are the longest roots in your mouth. Teeth that are broken at the gum line may also have to be taken out in sections. It is also important to make sure that all the roots and tips are completely out. Its not as easy as you think
Reply:Actually extractions (in CT) can range from $125 for a "regular" extraction to $250 for a surgical extraction. Most of your teeth might end up being surgical extractions. Call your local oral surgeons to check. If you want to go to sleep for the extractions it may be another few hundred dollars. You can do it with just novacaine. It's your choice. I would check into it soon before you start experiencing pain if you aren't already.
Hope this helps and good luck!
Reply:90-200 depending on your area. If you can find a free clinic though, you may be able to get it done for free or low cost.
Reply:It depends on the dentist and your insurace. I'd say maybe $600-$1,000 w/ out insurance and like $200 with maybe...
Reply:It is going to cost more than it would have if you would have had them taken out before. You are probably better pulling them out yourself. Ha! Shouldnt have waited until they were broke off and rotten. Not a good idea! People what are they thinking? I am sure you could have fixed them before they got that bad.

about twenty bucks if you have insurance and if not about 100 bucks.
Reply:all of them?? probably $100 per tooth.
Reply:Find a dental college near you. Often, they'll do it for 10 bucks, or even free, if you have trouble getting the money together.
Reply:Depends on the dentist. You can probably arrange some kind of payment plan if there's a lot to be done. Sounds like you've had very little dental care so far.
Reply:It depends on the tooth. If it is a molar you'll be spending more. Our dentist charges $125 or more per tooth.
Reply:It cost about $1,500 to get my wisdom teeth pulled. Insurance covered most of it though.

Sorry - more wisdom teeth questions?
Once I get my (rotten, sorry TMI) wisdom teeth removed, will my breath be better..lately it's been kinda....rank. Once again, sorry for sharing the details. thanks for everyone's help, I know I'm a pain in the butt. :)
Sorry - more wisdom teeth questions?
I think that is a great question.
The answer is yes or maybe no.
Once the infection is gone you will no longer have that horrible taste or that infectious breath.
Bad breath can also be caused by a number of things, like food you eat or bacterial growth in your mouth.
If you do experience bad breath after the surgery, brush your tongue or buy a tongue scraper. This will do the trick!
Reply:Yes, if rotten teeth are removed, your breath will freshen up once the bacteria has dissipated.
Reply:mine got better as soon as i was able to brush my teeth
Reply:most likley but you should have your tonsils checked out too
Reply:For sure it will help your problem! Get those Decayed teeth out and you will be smelling great! Good Luck
Reply:what the question
Reply:rotten teeth are dead...if you have something dead in your mouth then obviously you breath is going to smell dead too
Reply:yes it will.if it doesn`t completly i would see the dentist again and let him see if he can find another problem.

How Can I Clean Teeth (not your typical question believe me)?
I'm not talking about my own, I'm talking about a full set of human teeth I have. I believe they were ripped out of some dead guys mouth, but not recently, because there are bits and peices of rotten gingiva on the tooth.
This is not a joke question, I'm a student in the Philippines, and these people are screwed up, and require me to have a full set of human teeth in my Dental Orientation class, in Pre-Dentistry. Anyway if anyone knows what I can do to make these teeth really clean, white and shiny looking tell me, and don't forget it doesn't matter how sensitive it would make the teeth, because buddy is already dead, and 6 feet deep.
How Can I Clean Teeth (not your typical question believe me)?
scrub the teeth hard with baking soda and soak them in a mild aquious bleach solution, repeat baking soda, then polish them up with a tooth polish like pearl drops
Reply:try the denture soaks like efferdent/polident
Reply:Since teeth are covered in enamel I would try an enamel cleaner. Here are some links with different products you can try. I hope that helps. Good luck!
http://www.medscape.com/medline/abstract...
http://www.porcelainenamel.com/care.htm
Reply:Bleach will remove all the tissue and whiten them up. Use a mild solution overnight. Repeat if necessary.
I keep some extracted teeth for students to practice RCTs, and that's what they're kept in.
Don't leave them any longer than necessary, because sometimes the roots have gone blue after a long time.
Reply:Put the teeth is a glass (made of actual glass) and cover them with Clorox. Let them sit for 20-30 minutes. Shake the glass around so the teeth rattle around in the bottom after they have been sitting there that long. Run tap water into the glass to rinse off the teeth before you touch them. If they still have debris on them, repeat the procedure until they are clean.

Need a dentist for 27 yr. old autistic son who can't brush properly and teeth are in bad shape. How do I find
He uses an electric toothbrush but doesn't get all the plaque off. Since his dentist retired I get the impression the new one doesn't want anything to do with him. He wants to wait 3 months and let the teeth get more rotten.(no fillings have been put in for over a year) They said my son will end up with dentures but I don't think we should do nothing for 3 months. He isn't yet on medicade and when my husband retires in 8 months we lose the dental insurance we now have. What dentist is best with special needs kids people and where? I'm looking for an orthodontist or possibly an oral surgeon if the teeth have to come out. Should I try case western reserve or the cleveland clinic or is there something closer to home. I live in Rome ohio. Do I need a second opinion?

`cranberry juice with aloe vera juice %26amp; blueberries will help

Reply:Do any of the colleges by you have a dental school. That would be a great learning experience for the students and your son should be able to get state of the are treatment there.
Reply:hi, may i suggest a dentist that works/specializes with children they may be equipped to handle your son. or you could call the dental association. your insurance provider is a soure.
Reply:Pedodontists and their staff are dental specialists that deal primarily with children and people with special needs (i.e. downs syndrome, autistic). If there aren't any listed in your phone book, ask your current dentist for a referral.
Reply:Many people who are autistic have a hard time finding a dentist because the experience of it is frightening to them. I have 9 years experience where I have worked with those who are autistic and what usually happens is they will have to take antibiotics for 7 days and the doctor will prescribe a moderate sedative usually to be taken one hour before seeing the dentist and another once he gets there. It doesn't knock them out it's normally xanax or klonipin which are both used for relaxation.

Reply:you could try contacting social services to see if they could make any recommendations. a financial workder at social services should be able to help you get your son on medical assistance that will cover his medical needs. also if your son attends a day program, the staff there may be aware of a good dentist that would meet your son's needs. are there any operational regional treatment centers left in your area? some of the best dentists for people with special needs here in mn are still located at the regional treatment centers.

My tooth(teeth) really hurt, what could be the problem?
I'm not realy sure which teeth hurt, I just know the pain is on the right side of my mouth, on the top, in the back. I believe it's second to last tooth.
I would go to the dentist, But I was just at the dentist two months and had an exray the day I had my wisom teeth extracted.
I think they would have seen something on the exray if I had a cavity or something worse forming...
It sometimes becomes REALLY painful, Usually when I eat or drink something cold or frozen, and when I eat or drink something sweet. Sometimes it's not painful, just feels sore, but sometimes it's very painful.
My sister says she felt the same way before she found out she needs a root canal, but a root canal is a bad thing and takes a long time for your tooth to become so rotten. I doubt my tooth or teeth could have become like that in just two months.
I am also a bit embarassed to go to the dentist again in such a short period of time.
What could it be, and what should I do to alleviate the pain and soreness?
My tooth(teeth) really hurt, what could be the problem?
You COULD have a cavity forming that just started. Also check up along the gumline. You may have been brushing just a little too hard and wore away a little bit of the gum so that part of the root is exposed. Since there isn't any enamel on the root to protect it, cold and sweet - and pain - travel more quickly to the nerve. It can send you through the roof sometimes if something catches it the wrong way. Try a toothpaste designed for sensitivity (most commonly Sensodyne, but most companies have their versions out). Put a small amount on your finger and apply it directly to the spot that's sensitive and leave it on for a little while before you brush. Since it is localized to the one area, you don't have to use sensitivity toothpaste all over, but it won't hurt. It should calm down after a few treatments, but could take a couple of months. If it's too sensitive to use a toothbrush, try a Q-tip. If you are still concerned, see a dentist. They can use a desensitizing varnish or put a filling on that area. =)
Reply:Don't be embarrassed to go to the dentist again. Sometimes a problem can develop very quickly. Dentists are used to that. If you ignore it, it will only get worse and become more of a problem.
Reply:Use some mouthwash and stay away from all types of sugars.
Reply:You should not wait. You probably have decay (cavity) in your tooth. The decay will never get better it will only get worse, so you should go see the dentist as soon as possible. If you notice that your teeth are very sensitive to hot/cold and you have pain with pressure or biting down you might have a cavity to the nerve of your tooth and will probably need a root canal. Go to the dentist asap before it gets worse.
Reply:A lot of times, generalized pain in maxillary (upper) teeth is due to the sinus cavity. The teeth roots are close to the sinus cavity and any inflammation due to allergies, cold, sinus infection, etc can affect the roots and in turn your teeth. If it doesn't resolve after a couple of months with OTC sinus medication get it checked out with the dentist.

Why dose most of UK people have bad teeth?
i went there for a visit and almost everyone has bad teeth. it looks rotten and yellow, which is very awful. What do they eat or drink. i know they love tea but could that be the case.
Why dose most of UK people have bad teeth?
I spent 5 months in the Uk and trust me you do not want to get sick or use the public health system in any way. They are so over run with people and their public health system is so overcrowded. It probably has a lot to do with lifestyle as well. Did you not notice that very few actually eat healthy home cooked dinners in London? Everything is pub meals or quick pre-packaged crap. I'd say diet and poor health facilities. Along with not all the best hygene, haven't you heard the saying pommie???? Just kidding, the first two.

Why is 60?% of the population obese, maybe because they sit on their computer's all day. I have really bad teeth what are my options other than dentures?
Due to a really bad past with drugs my teeth are now rotten what are my options other than dentures? I really do not want the incovience of dentures but HAVE to do something. I am in constant pain and really sick of it any advice?
I have really bad teeth what are my options other than dentures?
The best thing to do is go to the dentist for a consultation to discuss your options.Keep in mind that full mouth implants will cost about$30,000 and dentures will cost anywhere from $1100 to $4000 depending where you go.
Reply:At the bare minimum you are probably looking at getting a partial, depending on how many teeth you have left that are in good shape. However if they are all bad you are looking at dentures. Implants are a possibility but they are around $3000.00 per implant.
Reply:I know several people with dentures and they don't mind them at all, also I have seen some horror stories about caps and other things that cover your real teeth.
Reply:Hey, how are you this evening?
I don't know the exact name of the procedure, but I would deffinately check with your dentist. They may us Porcelein fittings. I could be wrong. I highly advise you to check with your dental hygenist.
Reply:Ask your dentist about implants. It is more expensive, but you wouldn't have to take them in %26amp; out.
Watch out for root canals - they turn your teeth into "peanut brittle". You can put a cap on to protect it but those can crack or break. Once the tooth breaks, it could shatter (like mine did) and have to be removed in pieces.
Reply:you could try porcelain veneers
Reply:If you are truly past your drug history, are generally healthy (i.e. no uncontrolled diabetes, don't smoke), and are willing to commit to caring for your mouth in the future implants can provide a wonderful restorative option. Implants can support dentures, but they can also support individual crowns (caps) and fixed bridges. Your dentist should take necessary xrays and perform a variety of other studies and measurements to determine if you are a candidate for implants. In some instance the dentist may be able to remove the tooth and place an implant at the same visit, but sometimes some time may be needed to allow infection to resolve. Interim dentures may help with appearance until the implants can be placed and the crowns placed. If implants are something you are considering make sure when you have your teeth removed site preservation efforts are undertaken (i.e. bone grafting.) Approaching your future dental treatment in a comprehensive manner with your dental goals in mind can more predictably yield these results. Also be direct with your dentist about your drug abuse past. Costs can add up with implant restorations, but many dentist offer financing options to make good things happen. Good luck.

How come my teeth are so bad?
I'm only 14 but my teeth are really bad. I went to the dentist all the time when I was little, but then we moved house and my mum never registered us with another dentist. I went a few weeks ago cos I got toothache and the dentist said my teeth are quite bad and I need lots of fillings. And the other day I had a REALLY bad toothache but I couldn't go to the dentist so I took lots of painkillers and now the tooth doesn't hurt, my mum says it's probably dead and I'll need to get it pulled out or get a root canal.
I don't eat that much sweets or chocolate though and I only drink diet soda. And I brush my teeth every day. So how come my teeth are so rotten? How can I stop from needing more fillings?
How come my teeth are so bad?
I empathise. This appened to me when I was the same age as you are now.
Don't worry. You can get past this and your teeth will be OK later on, but you MUST take the advice of your dentist.
I know it is horrible, but you have to go and have the fillings he recommends. After that, you need to brush your teeth properly twice a day. Ask your dentist to show you the right way to do this.
Try not to eat too many sweet things, and don't drink coke (sorry, but it is terribly bad for teeth!!)
You might want to try using dental floss (the peppermint flavoured one is nice)
Later on, if you want to have some cosmetic procedures done on your teeth, you can. That will make them look good.
But the onlky way is to go to a dentist regularly and take their advice.
Get it done and then you can relax and smile!!!

Reply:Anything with caffine and Sugar will rot your teeth and Diet soda is a no no. You need to watch out for your sugar and caffine intakes
Reply:Use a fluoridated toothpaste, brush at least twice a day, and floss. Your teeth might be naturally soft too. Some people's teeth aren't as strong as other peoples so it could be that.
Reply:if you take good care of your teeth like you said...and you're only 14, i'd say you are doomed by genetics....sad to say, but i don't take care of mine nearly as well as i should, and i have good teeth, very few cavities, and never really any problems beyond the normal ones.....like wisdom teeth and such....
Reply:It could be that you don't have strong teeth even though you went to the dentist when you were younger. That time when you didn't see the dentist twice a year could have caused problems. Other things that can cause problems for your teeth besides eating sweets and not brushing are not flossing every day and not getting enough fluoride. If you are not getting enough fluoride to protect your teeth through your drinking water and toothpaste, try rinsing with a separate fluoride mouthwash every day. Also make sure you are flossing every day because just brushing/mouthwash won't get the food particles from between your teeth and you could end up with cavities that way.
Reply:You may not be brushing properly or as long as you should. You should floss after every meal. You may have gum disease and sometimes that is genetic. Ask you dentist what can be done about it!
Reply:Ask your dentist what you are doing wrong.
You may not be getting enough calcium or other vitamins and minerals and you should drink water instead of diet soda. If you do drink soda drink it quickly. Soda really corrodes teeth when you sip on it throughout the day. Also try brushing your teeth three times a day. (Once after each meal.)

Reply:If you can get an electric toothbrush, they are so much better than normal brushes. They aren't cheap though so you might have to ask your parents for the money. Always clean at least twice a day, and floss, try floss sticks instead of ordinary floss or tape. Use a fluoride toothpaste, and use Fluorigard as well.

Oh, and good luck with all those fillings!!
Reply:There are several reasons for this.
The basic reason is that you probably drink alot of bottled and prepackaged water. You need to drink tap water a bit too, but the government adds flouride to the water system. (I don't know why, but they do) Each city has their own flouridation system.
Stay away from the soda, because sodas contain acids. Especially Coca Cola, with the urban myth of soaking a piece of steak overnight and it being completely dissolved in the Coke. Although it's not true, people have proved that Sodas eventually eat up things, but not overnight. Basically your tooth enamel has been eaten away from the acids.
Genetics has also got to do with this especially when it comes to bacteria. Lots and lots of bacteria would thrive in your mouth. The bacteria eventually turns into plaque.
There are ways to stop this.
Brush regularly (at least twice a day)
and Floss once a day.
Using mouthwash is usually optional, but for someone like you might need it once in the morning, since sleep time is the time that bacteria would thrive the most.

If you have a Hyades hernia this will allow stomach contents to come into the mouth at night when you lay down and because they contain stomach acids will rapidly damage teeth. If you are practising good oral hygiene and flossing properly there should be no problem. Just start asking questions of your health care providers.

If you are practising good oral hygiene and flossing properly there should be no problem. Just start asking questions of your health care providers.

I have a friend that i like. hes really nice and everything but the only thing is some of his teeth are .....?
some of his teeth are rotten out. how would u approach someone to get dentures or something like that?? i dont wanna be rude about it or hurt his feelings
I have a friend that i like. hes really nice and everything but the only thing is some of his teeth are .....?
Most important, it is not just his looks, but his health. Why not do some research to see if there is any free dental care in the area for people who can not afford it? We have a free dental clinic in our town. Then gently talk to him about what you found with the focus on his health and that you care about him.
Reply:ew, just imagine yourself kissing that! rotting teeth mean one thing.. no brushing.. then bad breath :S
Reply:Oh my. I would recommend my dentist to him and offer to go with him for his appointment. He is ruining his health as well as his teeth. He could get an infection that could kill him.
Reply:Wow. You shouldn't be rude and say nothing at all. I'm sure he's aware that his teeth are rotten out.
Reply:Dont worry, perharps try to find a way to talk to him abt his teeth n ask him to get dentures.Try talkin to him nicely and calmly, dont tell him tat he looks ugly or what.Just tell him tat if get dentures, then he will looked more nice and his smile will look great if he smile :)
He will listen to u and get him self dentures :)
best of luck to u :)
Reply:It's a pity that we don't take more care of our dental hygiene.
Maybe he just can't afford it. The smile is one of the first things you notice about a person and if their teeth are bad, then so is their breath. It would be a turn off for me. Good luck, can't help you with any tips to broach the subject to him.
Reply:tell him, and give him the name and ad. of your dentists. rotten teeth are gross.

What can he use for his teeth?
my man has brown teeth, almost rotten-like. he does not smoke, drink or use any drugs. this brownness is as a result of water. in one or two parts of our country, people there have this problem due to some water characterists of that area.i have told hime several times that i do not even care a bit about that! but he is very uncomfortable with them. he has tried several prescriptions, which havent worked. is there any BEST treatment u know of? one that will work very fast? he is only 29, i bet that's why he is scared. i honestly know that this has affected even the way he mixes with people. but mostly, after we met.i like him that way. but he doesnt like them. please help
What can he use for his teeth?
You could try making a paste with bicarbonate-of-soda and a little water, then applying it to the teeth. It may not taste too good, and it is harmless. This product cleans almost everything.
Reply:gargle peroxide and water. DO NOT SWALLOW IT!!
Reply:go see a dentist, there could be many different ways to diagnose, and you'll never get a proper diagnosis online. has he taken a lot of antibiotics as a kid, tetracycline can casue horrible staining in teeth. ask your dr.

Would someone supply approximate cost of all teeth removed and getting false teeth?
I know someone who does not get free state dental care and doesn't make income enough for insurance. Her teeth are rotten into the gums and it isn't from drug use so please don't assume. Am trying to think of a plan to get together with others to pay the dentist but not let her know. She is in constant pain and has abcesses. Location is MIssouri.
Would someone supply approximate cost of all teeth removed and getting false teeth?
My fees are nearly the same as LittleMermaid's office, but in doing this kind of case for a disadvantaged individual, I would negotiate the fee and payment arrangements. Once a year, someone gets lucky and becomes my charity case for the year and would get the treatment for nothing or nearly nothing. I do not advertise this type of thing, so nobody knows about it. You never know when you might stumble into someone in Missouri doing the same thing.
Reply:the best you can hope for is 80bucks a tooth and 250$ each for upper and lower plates. Dentists WILL negotiate
Reply:ouch, this kinda pain is awful, I've been thru it myself. To extract all her teeth and replace with top and bottom dentures should be a good long term solution. I don't live in Missouri but I think the total cost should still be lower than implants. On my side of the universe, maybe $2K in our local currency
Reply:I recomend you look into the Mexican dentist work. DO A LOT OF HOMEWORK!!! Find real reviews, email the people and make sure the reviews are real.
I read an article by a guy who flew to Mexico because it saved him $16k on major dental surgery.
If you go the the right dentist, you can get good work and save a fortune. Yes, even after a hotel %26amp; airfare, Mexican dentists are way cheaper.
Reply:My office is considered on the higher end of the scale, but I will tell you what we charge.
extractions: between $155 and $278 a tooth
dentures: $1350 a piece (top or bottom)
Reply:I recently had this done, I have a very good dental plan and had to pay about 1400.00 out of pocket, but it was worth every cent to not have the pain and embarrassment any more. without insurance the cost should be around 4000.00, maybe you can find a clinic that would be cheaper, or contact a dentist to see if they might donate some of the cost for this worthy cause.

I want whiter teeth and I have braces any suggestions?
I have heard a lot of people say that whitening systems cause your teeth to rotten is this true?
I want whiter teeth and I have braces any suggestions?
I have braces too. Its really annoying trying to brush and floss. But for now, just brush good and at least 2-3 times a day. When u get ur braces off, try the whitening strips. Good luck!
Reply:yes it is talk to your orthadontist next time you go in for a check up and ask him remember when that glue comes off so can a nightmare you might want to wait on the whitening until your bar free
Reply:ask your orthodontist. when you get your braces off you can get them bleached by putting bleach gel in a mouthguard or retainer.
Reply:If you have braces talk to your periodontist, they can do safe treatments.
Reply:after taking off your braces the doc will do some light cleaning to your teeth anyways.. so be patient
Reply:Wait to do anything until your braces are off. Then use a dentist to whiten.
Reply:Be patient.
Reply:Don't try any whitening system with braces. Part of your teeth are covered by the braces so you won't be getting all of the teeth in the first place. Wait til you have no braces then ask your dentist to suggest something.
Reply:The dentists tell you that whitening is totally safe, so I'm not sure. But, if you've got braces...you'll want to wait until your braces come off before whitening...otherwise you'll have non-whitened marks where your brackets were.
Reply:Go to your dentist and let him/her clean them for you and ask them the questions that you are asking us, unless there is a dentist available to tell you now, i dont think none of us qualify to answer you questions.
Reply:Brush them alot like 5 times a day and if you want them to look shiny put wax on them
Reply:hmm.. it's tough to whiten teeth when you have braces. The area that is not treated will leave a stain which will turn out very ugly. I suggest just to wait it out until your braces is removed.
Reply:Wait until your off your braces.
Reply:omg wait till the braces come off otherwise there will be spots

Why do people with straight teeth think theyre better then people with crocked teeth?
constantly i hear people say they think people with crocked teeth (not rotten or decayed) are disgusting, they wouldn't kiss them or in no way find them attractive, why are people like this, aren't we all just human and isn't it our personality that matters, are looks so important in life?
Why do people with straight teeth think theyre better then people with crocked teeth?
it is just pure snobbery
Reply:either they have spent the money or time to get them that way so they think they deserve more attention because of it .... its also arrogance and its wrong. Report It
Reply:because it shows the people with crocked teeth are a part of the lower classes think about it now a days if u have money u have braces or fixed teeth
Reply:Those kind of people only pay attention to the looks becuase they want to go out with someone who is good looking and doesn't have crroked teeth. You're right Personality does matter.
Reply:there not better...there TEETH are better
Reply:the answer lies in your question. i mean the question it self is answer. another answer is inferiority complex of the people with crocked teeth
Reply:coz when they talk they are confident. the first duty of listening is reading the lips, and then seeing the teeth is part of it, and they think they are better bcoz when they smile they actually look good!, but literally they looked queer, anyhow! i got crooked teeth and i find it cute and barbaric! this is the kind of a teeth a real man should have!
Reply:People always judge the way a person looks. It happens. It effects all areas: picking a mate, hiring for a job and yes who we are attracted to. It is easy to say that you would like to think a person is judged by their other merits as well but a first impression is a persons looks.
This is why millions of dollars are spent every year to fix anything that isn't up to our standards of perfection.
Reply:cuz its true and straight teeth atlest look clean and u kno not deserted
Reply:People with straight teeth are more confident that those with crooked teeth. They can smile and talk with people and wont feel awkward or be afraid that people might laughed at them because of their teeth. But mind you, the brain is aint in the teeth, it's placed higher. So, if you have dont crooked teeth dont despair, because its not a sign that your not better. Besided, the word better to them may be different to you. So smile and just be yourself, you wont hurt anyone smiling even if you have crooked teeth.:)
Reply:Because when people smile you don't want to see a mouth full of crooked teeth and everyone in the magazines have straight teeth so now its like an obligation to have straight teeth
Reply:It isnt that about who is gorgeous and who is not. The fact is, if you are clearly not looking after your health, what else dont you look after?

I have three teeth that have massive holes in them if they get pulled out will i get 3 wisdom teeth replaced?
Ok what i understand is that there are such thing's as wisdom teeth i have one right in the back of my mouth. If all your teeth were rotten and had hole's in them, all of them pulled out. Will wisdom teeth's replace your hole mouth?Or do you only get a few wisdom teeth? And how many?
I have three teeth that have massive holes in them if they get pulled out will i get 3 wisdom teeth replaced?
Most people only have 4 wisdom teeth; one in each corner of you upper and lower jaws. Unless you are something like 15 or 16 (or younger), the chances of your wisdom teeth coming in to replace any extracted teeth is very slim. If you are under 15 or 16, there is a CHANCE it will work out for you.
You can't decide where they go any more than you can choose where your toes are located.
However............. It is SOMETIMES possible to remove one molar, especially the lower first molar, and then remove the wisdom tooth from the same side and "implant" the wisdom tooth in the hole where the other tooth was removed. This can only be done by a dentist or oral surgeon and it's not something that you can do at home.
Reply:Don't be embarrassed! There are animals that do this....... Report It
Reply:Umm well, some people have 4 wisdom teeth, some people have more or less. I don't have any wisdom teeth on the bottom, but 2 on the top. If your wisdom teeth haven't come down yet, either you don't have any, or they will come down later on. If you have molars pulled out, the wisdom teeth may come down, but you only get a set of them, and you cannot grow more.
Reply:wisdom teeth are the last molars you get at the very back of your mouth. if you pull out teeth that are your permanent adult teeth..they will not be replaced by other teeth . massive holes can be filled with acrylic fillings and look nice and you may not have to have them pulled out. see a dentist about them.
Reply:Are the teeth in the back of your mouth? I had one molar that abcessed(sp) a few years ago. It was a 12 yr. molar. The dentist pulled it and my wisdom tooth grew in where it was. It was the last molar all the way back in my mouth. Good luck!
Reply:wouldn't count on it they may come in crooked and require removal as well spend a fortune and have root canals build ups and crowns done for your massive cavities and learn to use some better dental hygiene methods for the future .....
Reply:Such a dumb question.
Reply:Oh, wow! Wisdom teeth grow last...and they are at the very back. Most people have them removed...because it's hard to brush all the way back there. They rot. Once they are removed...as in all your four wisdom teeth gone- there will be no more!!!.....(again....4 wisdom teeth only!)...and they are at the back...some people have one missing...not present at all....everything else %26gt; not wisdom teeth.

Reply:you have 4 wisdon teeth very far back in your mouth. They stay way back there and don;t move to replace a lost tooth. They are usually "bad" teeth because they are hard to reach to brush.
Reply:Really only your dentist can give you the answer. X-Rays of your rotten teeth will show if the wisdom teeth are also rotten which they can be. It will also show the placement of the wisdom teeth you have and your dentist will have the knowledge to advise you on what will happen. That's why he gets the big bucks and we have to pay for his opinion. Look for a clinic that charges on a sliding scale based on your income. Good Luck.
Reply:HAHAHAHA the average person has only 4 wisdom teeth in the far back of their mouth that may or may not come out
I luckily was born with no wisdom teeth :)

I have a really rotten wisdom tooth?
and i went to the dentsit for an emergency appointment and he gave me anitbiotics and made an appointment for an extraction for later today.. i thought the infection needed to clearup before they extracted it?? will i get blood posioned if i let him take it out
I have a really rotten wisdom tooth?
The tooth is causing the infection. He will remove the tooth, then clean the area. The antibiotics will help fight the infection as well. If he says it's gotta go immediately, I'd trust him, he knows what he's doing. Keeping it in and waiting longer will cause more problems.
Rotten teeth can cause brain damage - it's in your head - Take care of it before it gets worse!
Also, don't let it get to this point again. Take care of your teeth, or get them all removed and buy some dentures.
Reply:no, i think that the longer it stays in there the worse it will be. I just got all 4 of my wisdom teeth out yesterday. hurt like hell afterwards!!! but it will be worth it once i'm healed, there is no point for wisdom teeth. they are just there to make us miserable and the point is to see who actually has wisdom enough to take them out! So i reccomend you get all 4 of yours out or you'll just have more problems down the road
Reply:Antibiotics work very quickly. Ever have strep throat? You usually feel better the next day after starting antibiotics.
Your dentist i giving you the medication before the dental procedure in order toget a jump start on clearing up the infection. Removing the tooth should make the infection disappear even faster.
Good luck,

Just had my rotten wisdom tooth ripped out of my skull, HAHAHAAHA!ya know what?
was surprised at how healthy the root looks compared to the crown of the tooth.
but since it contributed obviously to the reason why I'm no antibiotics (got ill and faint like b4 hand from it) it's a relief it's outta there.
Anyway, was pleasantly surprised that when alternating "gauze times" for clotting, that it was advised after the 3rd time to place a dry tea bag over it as well. apparently 'something in the tea aids to help it to clot'. anyone out there know what ingredient this is in the tea that functions like this?
Curious to know!
thanks :-)

Tannic acid. Used for tanning hides in the old days. It stops the bleeding by toughening up your gums.
Reply:a doctor told u to use a tea bag???
Reply:I m surprised too that a doctor told u to use a tea bag...not that it's a bad thing but they try not to cross the line into natural home remedies. It is the caffeine in the tea that reduces the swelling ,numbs, and shrinks the tissue. The plus is that it's already wrapped up in the disposable little cloth!!
Reply:Tea contains Tannic Acid which may help to reduce the bleeding by helping to form a clot by contracting bleeding vessels.
Reply:Did you have a wisdom tooth removed at the dentist or in hospital? I'm only curious because a couple of weeks ago I had an extraction of a molar that was a nightmare. It seems what could go wrong - did go wrong. I went back yesterday to have some of the bone removed that was coming through the roof of my mouth and lo and behold, I had a fourth root removed that the dentist who had spent over an hour in my mouth two weeks before - had missed!
I sincerely hope you keep as upbeat as you are now and all your suffering was done before it was removed. Hooray for tea bags, what a could excuse to brew up! lol

Is rotting teeth neglect?
If a child has rotten brown teeth obviously from not brushing and eating too many sweets, still drinking juice from a bottle a cause for concern or not? The child is 3. ( not my child btw)
Is rotting teeth neglect?
Well, being concerned about some1 else's child is very nice. Having a child with rotten theeth isn't very gd. Sometimes children and ppl sometimes have rotton teeth because it runs in the family. But unless the child is snogging and sneaking sweets when his mother ins't looking, it is pretty much neglect, make sure the child goes to the dentist straight away, lays of sweets for a while and does some gd brushin or the child's teeth will fall out by the age of 40 or less!!
[x] Take gd care, Becca [x]
Reply:Yeah- I would think this means the parent in not taking care of the child. Any parent taking care of their child would be taking care of their teeth too.
Reply:i would sugest a dentist visit. could be the child was born without enamel on his teeth. (my brother was born without enamel on his teeth too, it happens, but not getting it checked is more a case of neglecting the childs needs then the fact they are rotten. aside from that what is a 3 year old still doing on a bottle? my daughter wasd drink8ing from a cup by the time she was 2.
Reply:neglect by the parent(s)...kids follow from example.
Reply:i would think so that sounds terrible
my 3yr old son has lovely white teeth.
Reply:yes..it is absolute neglect %26amp; bad parenting! child will suffer much more now as the dentist will need to sort it out..when it all could have been avoided!!
Reply:Neglect. The child should NOT have juice in a bottle as it sits on the teeth and the sugar stays in contact for far too long. A dentist would tell the mother this too but she clearly doesn't take the child to one at all. Sweets in moderation alongside proper dental care would be ok.
Reply:Yes it is a cause for concern, I've never heard of that in such a young child.
Child needs to go to the dentist asap.
Reply:It's easy to jump to conclusions, could be a hereditary problem or some other problem with the teeth. Or could be neglect as you suggest. Talk to the parents about your concerns if you can. If you are certain it is neglect then talk to social services.
Reply:You should take a child to the dentist every 6 months from when their 1st tooth appears.
At the child's age you should stand with them when they brush their teeth.
So I would say the child is being mildly neglected but if you do have any other worries you should call the NSPCC

Reply:WE know its wrong, but know where you are comin from, dont interfere, we , Me, Did, and lost a "friend", shame, but stand by what I said, the child wont thank them for all the sweets when she is older, my little gal only has fruit, with sweets only as a special treat, feel if she wants sweets she can make her own mind up, when she is older, meanwhile, I wont "neglect her" when she doesnt have a choice, Carrot sticks, cucumber, STRAWBERRIES, or rubbish Enumbered "sweets" even as an adult, I know what 1 I would want.
Reply:id say so but the parent who is neglecting the teeth probably wouldnt.......a friends daughter had to have all her front teeth removed due to chronic decay at the age of 2 and it was everyones fault but the parents!
Reply:mt niece had 4 teeth taken out by age 4, she has had lice since she was 1. Yes it is neglect most defiantly.
Reply:aw the poor child, its totally the parents fault, the child is too young to know itself and as a result will suffer from toothache, shame on parents like this
Reply:My friends daughter is almost 6 and had to have 7 teeth removed at the beginning of this month because they were crumbling! The mum is adamant its because she is lactose intolerant and has to have special milk (?) errrrrr no........lactose free milk has less than half the sugar of normal cows milk!
She seems to forget that I was there when she was letting her little girl drink Coke and Irn Bru when she was 2 and 3 and was (and still is) always giving her sweets!!!
The poor kid has a mouthful of gums now and her mum blames everyone but herself and has still not learned her lesson and gives her fizzy drinks and sweets even now.
I absolutely agree that it is neglect on the parents behalf, either through giving them sugary crap to eat/drink and not brushing their teeth properly! My daughter is almost 6 and has beautiful white teeth
Reply:In most cases, yes.....I have watched many-a-child, and I remember one in particular in a similar way. She was barely three, still in diapers, went to bed with a bottle, parents gave her Skittles for breakfast......oh, yeah - definitly neglect. As a three-year-old, she should have been WELL out of diapers, LONG OFF the bottle, and Skittles for breakfast? No wonder she had rotten teeth! Yes, I believe the child is being neglected. If you have such concerns for this child, you can ask the parent what she or he is doing to take care of the problem, or if that doesn't work, try Child Protective Services (not to be mean, but the child needs someone to help!).
Reply:A lot of children get this. I was the target of accusations of "neglect" because at 2 years old, my now 9 year old, had "bottle rot". A few years later, the same jerk who accused me of not properly caring for my little girl's teeth (even though I brushed, didn't give her a bottle at night and kept sugary snacks to a minimum) ran into the same problem with her child although she was just as vigilant about her baby's oral hygene as I was with mine. I feel sorry for the child but it looked good on the b***h for being such a condescending, judgemental know it all. If you have a problem with this person just let it go, because it happens to the best of us, and our children. If you know that this child is actually being "neglected" have a talk with the mother before you do something irrational based on your opinions. Now, if this child has had rotting teeth for a while and nothing is being done to fix them, then that would be neglect.
Reply:I would consider it child neglect. as a child should have regular checkups starting at age 1 and continuing till adult hood. the child u are describing will need tons of dental work and should of been off the bottle at age 2 at the very latest. if u can speak up to the parents and tell them that they are ruining the childs health, and if that doesnt work then u need to let the chips fall where the may when the child either starts pre-school or kindergarten, which ever happens first.
Reply:As a former child care provider for 12 years, I have cared for many children over the years and out of all those children I only had one who's teeth rotted like that. It was because he was given chocolate milk every night in a bottle when he went to bed. The chocolate was 1/4 an inch thick in the bottle. I know this because they told me they gave it to him every night and he was brought in each morning with a bottle of it. This poor kid suffered like you have no idea! His baby teeth rotted at the gum line and so he never had front teeth , ever!
They had something like dentures glued into his mouth to make it look like he had teeth until his permanent ones came in. He fell one day and hit his mouth and it broke them loose and his mouth bled like crazy and they had to take them out and let him go until his permanent teeth came in.
I guess it is possible for a child's teeth to rot even though they are not given sugary drinks and foods all the time or in bottles and their parents try to take care of their teeth... but it isn't likely at all. If a parent sees this starting to happen they need to get the child to a dentist. It is neglect when the
parent(s) see something like this happening and do nothing about it.
Reply:The child is probably still sucking a bottle. At age 3 it's uncommon, but I've seen it happen. If the child is still on a bottle, they may be allowed to fall asleep while drinking it. This will cause the teeth to rot. Especially if the child is allowed to drink sodas or soft drinks. Anything really. The parent may not know this. I doubt that it's neglect. They should take the child to a dentist, as this will cause other health related issues.
Reply:i would consider this as neglect as they are not providin services for the child to have good health
for example providing too much sugar etc
and not showing the child how to brush their teeth
report them to the social
Reply:Hi Maria
It could be neglect, but drinking a lot of juice from a bottle mainly dilute stuff ,could be the main cause the best advice is to take the child to see a dentist who could tell better
Reply:yes. I think that getting a child off the bottle as quickly as possible is one of the best things for their teeth. Even baby teeths hould be maintained, a lot of people say well those are just going to fall out but neglecting them can cause long term issues with a kids gums.
Reply:no i dont think this is a sign of neglect , well i no its not because my 2 children out of 5 have poorly teeth. most of the time its not due to sweets and bottles. my boys have had accidents one got hit in the mouth with handle bars of a bike when someone was riding it and the other fell over a bean bag and smacked hes face on wooden flooring. which broke hes teeth. id be upset if someone said to me that id neglected my children.
Reply:I THINK YOU KNOW ITS BAD PARENTING and juice from bottle at that age not only make goofy brown teeth its prob unhygenic
Reply:Yes definitely. It's not hard to look after a child's teeth. Not to many sweets etc and regular brushing. Not rocket science is it.
A three year old shouldn't be drinking juice, or anything else, from a bottle.
Reply:My parents never made my brother and I brush our teeth when we were kids and now we are paying the price by having horrible teeth and paying a fortune to get them put right.

Which is most unattractive - crooked teeth or yellow & stained teeth?
Heya, just wondering which do you dislike more - teeth that are crooked/crowded or teeth which are yellowy or stained. And I don't just mean in a potential partner, just people in general. Personally I think no one's perfect and don't mind crooked teeth cos they can be expensive to fix, but I really dislike browny rotten looking teeth because it makes it look like the person never brushes them.
Which is most unattractive - crooked teeth or yellow %26amp; stained teeth?
I can handle crooked, sometimes that just can't be helped, we don't get to choose which way our teeth grow in all the time.
But yellow and stained are the worst. This implies a hygiene issue, and that's a thumbs down.

My teeth are a mess but I'm so scared of the dentist!!?
OK, I'm 25 and my teeth are a mess. I'll admit now that I haven't really looked after them all that well when I was younger and I didn't see a dentist in a long time until a few weeks ago when I had to go with a terrible toothache.
So I saw the dentist, he said the tooth was pretty bad and I'd need a root canal, he did something to it, put in a medicated filling or something and I was supposed to go to a different dentist last week to have it looked at and fixed properly, but I was really scared and it wasn't hurting so I missed the appointment..........
I've had bad experiences with dentists in the past, I had to have quite a lot of fillings in my baby teeth when I was younger and it put me off dentists totally.
Now my teeth are a mess, the dentist I saw a few weeks ago said I needed another 5 or 6 fillings and two rotten wisdom teeth extracted, but I'm absolutely terrified, but can't afford private fees. What can I do?
My teeth are a mess but I'm so scared of the dentist!!?
Ok...there are some dentists that may provide you with a light sedative for procedures if you are that anxious about it. So far as not affording that work to begin with, it may take some time to get it all done, but dental schools are a great place to go. The students are looked over by the professors and you will not leave withoput it being done correctly...just takes much longer.
Reply:There are new techniques in dental care that help numb the patient's tooth nerve so the treatment will be painless. Its important you have your teeth fixed even if you have to borrow funds for it. Funds can always be earned but loosing all your teeth evnetually is the biggest regret. Go for it!
Reply:please go get them fixed =the dentist gives you gas ,so you don't care about what is going on=also tell dentist you are afraid and he/she will explain each step to you and what it is going to feel and sound like
been there=done that
Reply:its a necessary evil.
to make it easier, the denty can knock you out pretty well then go through with the procedure.
but in the end, its for your own good (even if it is a little pricey). you DO NOT want to end up with something more serious that ends up with you having no teeth at 35.
and youll also appreciate the experience once its over (ie it wont be as bad as you thought). obviously go to a dentist who has a good rep. so as to avoid any more bad dentist scenarios.
to recap, youre just going to have to bite the bullet (no pun intended) for the well being and future of your teeth, which are extremely important to your body.

If a tooth is too badly rotten does it get pulled out?
It is all my fault I know. I have not taken enough care over the years, and is probably the one thing I regret the most in my life..... If my tooth is rotten will it get pulled out?
If a tooth is too badly rotten does it get pulled out?
I just got mine pulled, there was not much of it left. No prob.
Reply:Very likely yes. No point in leaving it there!

Reply:Yes. It probably will. You have just made me realise that i need to look after my teeth more ( iam only twele) so you are the person who is going to save my teeth in the future because i am gonna look after my teeth better now.
Thnx :]
Reply:if having a rotton tooth is the worst thing you regret then your lucky mate!
Reply:Most likely yes.
Reply:yes, or if badly embeded most likely surgically removed by a dentist or oral surgeon.
Reply:yes because if you leave it there it can actually spread from your tooth to even your brain if it gets infected!
Reply:Depends on how bad the decay is. If it's not hurting that's a good sign. If there is enough tooth structure (after the decay is removed) a large filling may be able to be done, if not the tooth would need a crown and possibly a build up to save it.
If you opt to extract it, you will need to put a bridge in, which will end up costing more and drilling teeth next to the bad one. If they are bad as well the bridge is a cheaper way to go, but if not a single crown if the tooth can be saved is best. Or, if you have lots of money you can have the tooth extracted and an implant done. If you dont fill in the space after the tooth is extracted your teeth start shifting, causing gaps, and can lead to other problems. We have teeth for chewing and facial structure, losing them is never a good option.
If money is an issue look into having your work done at a dental school.
Brushing and flossing will prevent most all dental problems! It's a habit everyone should get into. Take care of your smile, it's the first thing people see.
Good luck!
Reply:if the tooth is decayed enough where it is not salvageable, they will pull it. but if it's a bad cavitiy, they may just give you a root canal. a root canal is done when the nerve endings in your tooth are dead.
so depending on how bad it is, they may try and save it. :)

Reply:No, not necessarily, There are many treatment options now to save largely decayed teeth. Talk to your dentist about the options, and cost of each. But if you want to keep the tooth, then this will most likely still be possible and probably the besty option. good luck
Reply:hi i dont want to scary you but it will need to come out, i have done excally the same as you, just got back from the dentisit he is referring me to hospital to have it out and they may need to cut the gum! Wisdom Teeth extraction..Please share your experiences?
I am a 34 year old baby! I have put off getting my wisdom teeth removed for about as long as I could. One of the wisdom teeth broke a couple of weeks ago and my oral surgeon said that there is a huge cavity in it that pretty much rendered the tooth...rotten! Eeeww. Okay, so much for the daily rigorous brushing routine I perform on those nasty useless teeth. Anyway, she said they've got to come out. My appointment isn't for 3 more weeks, but it's all I can think about. I'm so afraid. I honestly don't know how I'll put one foot in front of the other and walk into the hospital. I have a heart condition, so the only way they'd put me out is if I go to the hospital. I'm afraid I'll wake up during surgery! I'm afraid of all of the pain I'll have afterwards. I'm afraid I'll sneeze, causing the blood clot to dislodge resulting in "dry socket" and I'll have that pain to deal with as well. I'm also afraid I'll end up with nerve damage! Please share your wisdom teeth extraction stories with me.
Wisdom Teeth extraction..Please share your experiences?
These concerns should really be talked over with your doctor at consult. I work for an oral surgeon so I will share with you what I have learned.
Dry socket is a clotting issue. You are correct in stating that. For the most part patients do not develop this but some can. It is easily treated though with medicated packing. It is important to follow ALL of your post op instructions carefully. No straws, rinsing, brushing or forceful spitting on day one. Day 2, brushing is safely done but be careful and rinse with salt water morning, evening and after meals for a few days. Day 3 use the syringe to gently flush any debris that settles in the sockets.
Don't worry about waking up during the procedure. You will have an iv in place the entire time. If your surgeon sees too much activity coming from you he/she will give the proper dosage to help keep you sedated. The nice thing about iv sedation is the doctor can control how much to use during the procedure. When a patient uses an oral sedation the doctor is pretty much limited to how he/she can control the sedation.
There are signs that the doctor is trained to look for if more sedation is required. Usually arms start to lift or squirming in the chair. I have never seen a patient just pop up from the chair and say ouch. when they start making movement the surgeon will stop what he/she is doing and administer more iv sedation and it's night night time again until he/she is finished.
hoped this helped. and just so you know. removing wisdom teeth is a breeze. don't worry, be happy they'll be gone.

Reply:well i havent had wisdom teeth pulled but i had 4 other teeth pulled at one time 3 of which were right on top of each other. All they did for me was give me a shot that made my mouth numb and they pulled them. i couldnt feel anything. now as far as pain i just know that i took advil or sothing like that right after. but other than that i cant even remember it hurting. and i had no problems woth the clot either.
Reply:a sneeze will not dislodge a clot.. you will have to chomp down on a gause patch for a while.. just follow the dr. instruction,, take your pain pills and don't do anything stupid like eating hard food.. take it easy for a couple of days with soft stuff and you will be fine.. oh and.. remember.. ice cream.. is a good friend.. couple of days.. you will be bout done.. in a week you will never know it took place.. (french vanilla.. now that is comfort)
Reply:I had mine taken out when I was 15 or so...and, well it wasn't fun to be honest, although i don't remember much of it. They gave me laughing gas, then (if I remember correctly) they gave me an IV, and then i woke up with bloody gauze in my numb mouth. I spent the next couple weeks knocked out on pain med, hence why I dont remember much. I have had a few procedures done and that was my least favorite. I highly recomend the blue icepack they sell at walgreens and etc..that helped a lot, and I hope you can just sleep for a week or so...good luck, and don't worry too much, you probably won't remember much later on...tell your dentist about your worries!!!
Reply:Well, I had my wisdom teeth extracted when I was 19 and it wasn't bad at ALL. You have nothing to worry about. I was put under local anesthesia at an oral surgeons and I was eating mashed potatoes later that night. Felt no pain at all!!! I was scared of getting a dry socket as well. My clot fell off before it was suppose to, but I never had any problems. I was a little sore a few days later, but no big deal at all. I am in dental hygiene school and have observed MANY tooth extractions (not just wisdom teeth), and you have nothing to worry about. The worst thing that could happen is dry socket, but if you take proper care of the incision after surgery you will be fine. Don't worry about waking up during surgery either. Wisdom teeth are one of the most common surgeries that oral surgeons perform on a daily basis (probably 6+ a day). Don't worry you will be fine:)
Reply:I had my first wisdom tooth pulled the old fashioned way by a dentist when I was 34 which was like a nightmare as compared to the last three which were taken out my an oral surgeon. I was 37 at the time.
Under anesthesia, your oral surgeon will be able to pull the rotten teeth quickly and completely without you having to experience the effort it will take to remove them. The surgeon will pack your gums and administer pain killers before you wake up so you won't hardly feel a thing when you go home.
My advice to you is talk to the anesthesiologist about your fears. I had a situation during major surgery where I did wake up but not fully and it was quite disturbing. I let my anthologist know and he took special care to make sure that I did not wake up before I hit the recovery room.
Another thing you can do since you have a 3 week wait is to prepare to eat soft warm mushy foods for a few days after surgery and have these foods available before you have your surgery. Bananas, chicken noodle soup, apple sauce, spaghetti, oatmeal, rice, tea, etc. Make sure you have enough salt on hand to make glasses of warm salt water for you to rinse your mouth out with.
The most important thing is to follow all the instructions that your surgeon gives you so that you won't have any issues with infection or dry sockets.
Reply:I got my wisdom teeth takin out when i was 13 years old. I was just as scared but, it wasnt as bad as i thought it was. I am not going to lie to you and tell you that it didn't hurt after I got it done, because it did. But, I felt like an *** 2 weeks after when they stopped hurting. It might seem bad at first but, you get over it.
Reply:If U R that nevrous talk to your doctor %26amp; dentist about taking something b4 U even get to the office. I usually take a very mild sedative b4 I have any dential work done. U will need someone to drive U to %26amp; from the dentist. When my kids had theirs done at age 18, they had no memory of gettin home. They went into the office %26amp; woke up at home. One needed pain pills for 2 days the other only one day. Good luck.
Reply:I just had all of my teeth pulled about 2 weeks ago and from previous surgeries I have also shown that my heart doesn't agree with sedation, mostly coming out of it. It is scary.. I mean, I've practically lived in a hospital for majority of my life and had re-constructive jaw surgery 6 years ago so I completely understand the fear you have. Hospitals have that smell to them.. I even feel sick and get a headache at the thought of going to a hospital now. It's really not that bad though for a wisdom tooth.. I mean, I just had all mine out, under sedation.. but really isn't not that bad. I had an absessed tooth pulled while I was awake and the freezing didn't take.. and really.. it's wasn't too bad. Just think, as soon as it's out.. you won't be in pain anymore, if it's causing you pain. Just be honest with them, you're scared.. nothing wrong with that. A hospital is a scary place sometimes.
