Have a rotten tooth. Needs root canal, crown & core. Lump at bottom of gums. Healthwise, how long can I wait?

I'd rather wait and save money to get the root canal crown and core than have it abstracted and replaced later which would cost twice as much. All the same, my overall health matters more than saving the tooth. I heard that it can cause heart health problems, but how do you know it is that serious yet? I have it filled with temparin for now, which comes out and I keep refilling. I do charity work and my income is little.

The longer you wait, the worse it will get. You absolutely must get it fixed ASAP, before it's too late.
Reply:Sounds like you are heading in the direction of an abcess

If I were you I would go to a dentist pronto
Reply:soon itll be worse if you dont.

then it will cost and hurt more :)
Reply:What's your threshold for pain? You could wait until your tooth hurts so bad it will hurt less to pull it out yourself with a pair of pliers.
Reply:The only thing you can do is discuss other options with your Dr. If you can't save the tooth because of money. The best this is of course root canal build up and crown but there is other alternatives as long as you replace the missing tooth if you choose to extract. If you don't you will create other problems. Either way it will cost you I hope you find the solution.
Reply:If the tooth is rotten it cannot be remedied via root canal, and must be extracted. The bump at the base of your gum is an abscess, which is an infection filled with puss, and can lead to secondary infections that can be hazardous to your health. My professional advice is to seek medical attention, and at the very least obtain antibiotics to quell the infection.

The most common issue with fillings that fall out and are temporarily replaced is that food gets into the orifice and is now rotting INSIDE the tooth, which causes bacteria levels to rise to unhealthy levels, and usually produces swelling and infection at the base of the root which manifests at the gum line. Don't take chances unless you want to lose your teeth.
Reply:The lump on the gum at roots end is an abscess. As long as it drains, pressure does not build up and cause pain. This Is a chronic abscess, not acute which would be red, swollen and painful. This condition can go on indefinitely depending on your general health and some other existing unknown condition is not worsened by swallowing approx. 1 teaspoon of pus a day. If a Dental School is nearby, check them out.
Reply:Nope doesnt casue heart conditions. I asked my dentist before. It will get worse if it is not fixed soon. That temporary filling stuff doesnt work, sometimes it makes it feel sore even more. Ive had a root canal before, and from experiance the pain is horrible. If there are money issues try to get on some kind of payment plan with a dentist near you, thats what i did. If your pain is really bad, gargle warm salt water in your mouth. (Make sure you spit it out) Another solution is extra strength orajel. It numbs it up for alittle bit. I would get to a dentist ASAP! Another thing.... DONT PLAY AROUND WITH IT.

Hope you feel better.
